The sustainability credentials of companies bidding for MICE tenders will now be evaluated by the Singapore government, starting from 2025. This includes meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice) tenders, as well as other events organised by the public sector. This move comes after Singapore's 2024 announcement of including criteria for environment sustainability when assessing tenders. Sustainability has slowly been becoming more front-of-mind for the purchaser of property in Malta. According to PwC’s 2024 Real Estate Survey, when asked how important sustainability factors were when making property-purchasing decisions, 70% of respondents stated it was an important consideration ♻️ This is a sharp increase compared to the 59% from last year’s survey. So, this one is all about the business side because the way I see it a concentrated effort of businesses plus financial support will be decisive. "Green and social washing are a reality today in Luxembourg and in Europe. I think we must not be blind to that," says Jean-Louis Zeien, coordinator of the Initiative pour un devoir de vigilance. Others see sustainability as a necessity: "If you ran your business in a way that is destroying the resources around you, be it human resources or natural resources, your business won’t last.
