We are excited to announce that we have received an axle for our partner's, the Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika) - RWTH Aachen University, chassis NVH test bench. #Throwback to our 2024 ZERO PROTOTYPES Summit where Rutger Uil from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Guido Tosolin from Applus+ IDIADA shared their insights on virtual tire development. They introduced a new method for parallel tire and chassis development, using virtual tire models and real-time vehicle simulations in a driver-in-loop simulator. This approach includes three tuning loops during virtual development, enhancing vehicle dynamics and facilitating key chassis trade-offs. In the decades of automotive technology innovation, we have a #revolutionary idea. A fantastic example of German #Engineering. #Porsche has filed a patent for a six stroke Engine. What does this mean? In conventional 4 stroke engine we have only 1 power stroke in each cycle of 4 strokes . In the patented 6 stroke engine we will have 2 power strokes in one cycle of 6 strokes . Potentially we could have a maximum of 33% more power from the same engine size and meeting emission norms. Earlier two stroke engines generated double the power but wasted unburnt fuel and also was not environmentally sustainable. The beauty of this idea is that all this appears to be a unique way of using mechanical regular automotive components to generate more power . Theoretically we could have say a conventional 1 litre naturally aspirated 3 cylinder engine generating 72 hp on 4 stroke have an increase in power to atleast 105 hp from the same engine without turbo charging using this patented engine. There could be potential downsides of engine vibration and balance which I believe Porsche might have found a way to address . Hopefully this patent finds its way into production of new cars and also other vehicles like locomotives wherein if I can generate more power from same engine, I can thus possibly carry more load thus supporting #sustainability.
