More concerning things for the folks of #nlpoli on our energy front concerning blackouts. "No longer pursuing the adoption of a system reserve margin that satisfies LOLE ≤ 0.1 for the Island Interconnected System at this time; rather, planning to the existing planning criteria of 2.8 LOLH; and No longer pursuing the adoption of a system reserve margin that satisfies LOLE ≤ 0.1 for the Newfoundland and Labrador Interconnected System" Pg 165 I believe this translates roughly to; we have decided there will be many more / longer blackouts than planned, and we will supply power to meet this new, lower standard rather than our initial targets. 28 times more blackouts than an industry standard 0.1%. Really going from 'energy powerhouse' to 'you might need your own energy to power your house'.

PA may not be able to keep the lights on. People need to pay close attention to the energy policies of the candiates they vote for in November! If you support the myth that we can survive without fossil fuels, get ready for rolling blackouts. Electricity is growing and “coal and natural gas-fired power plants that are work horses of the grid are retiring prematurely both because of the climate policies …and because the federal government discourages or bans fossil-fuel power plants and give preferential treatment to renewable energy.” 💥 Read more below ⬇️ #electricity #power #coal #naturalgas https://lnkd.in/gBzKGbzA

The battle over #NaturalGas stoves has quieted down, but not so in New York state, where the rockets red glare and bombs bursting in air, can still be seen. Lawyers for the State, industry, small business and #environmental groups are set to butt heads over the New York climate law. When you listen to the New Yorkers talk about it, what's missing the conversation, and certainly what's missing from the whole anti-gas campaign is the freedom of choice that is a free market. The most obvious question is this: If it's so good, why are mandates needed at all? Indeed, how is it democratic to make such commercial and living choices for people? I mean, anyone can go all #electric. No ban needed. It's an interesting radio program, but it also proves the opposite point. The lady who went all electric has an #induction stove, #solar panels, a plug-in hybrid vehicle, and I would dare say a higher income. Another pointed out gas stoves are only 3 percent of gas usage [so why the big focus?]. Several pointed out that if blackouts occur all electric users will have no way to cook their soon-to-be-spoiled food, nor heat their homes. It's ironic. Do these politicians actually consult the people when proposing legislation affecting the minute aspects of the lives of their constituents? Are they being piously dogmatic to their own ideology? Or are they basking in the light of newly discovered power of executive mandates as many did during the 2020-2022 years? * Washington banning gas lawnmowers: https://lnkd.in/dsp5S-wC * Ann Arbor banning gas blowers (because electrics don't make noise?): https://lnkd.in/d3WCPrTD * Mainers were to mandate conversion to #EV until they got a major blackout: https://lnkd.in/diFdRVv2 A Lord Acton once wrote, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." It may not be true, but why do politicians, who mostly go by the moniker, "Representatives," suddenly decide to act unilaterally, instead of finding out what all the people in their area want? The market is a better way than central planning to find out what people really want as society has learned over and over again. Let's make better energy decisions. What is allowed under Greg Abbott’s #Texas: “CenterPoint is one of the worst utilities in the U.S. when it comes to pushing against action to slow climate change, according to an analysis by U.K. think tank InfluenceMap. And the utility doesn’t just advocate against climate action in Texas, where it is headquartered; it tries to delay climate policies all over the country—and succeeds. According to InfluenceMap’s report, CenterPoint has successfully fought policies to ban methane gas in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, and Indiana. In Minnesota, CenterPoint also successfully lobbied politicians to oppose building electrification, and support methane-powered heat instead.” #TexasHoldEm #FAFO #utility #grift Stop LNG expansion, start cleaning up and restoring fossil fuel sites. #uspoli
