"We already have 30, 40, 50, different leads because of these cameras. We even had a human trafficking suspect taken into custody, several leads in burglary investigations, several burglary suspects arrested. So this has really been an invaluable tool and a critical asset for our police department.” -Lieutenant William Hutchinson, Palm Springs Police Department https://bit.ly/3xDM1d8

Although a goal may exist in a police department to reduce crime, use of a call-response model will never achieve crime reduction because the call-response model does not have a crime reduction strategy; its purpose is means-ends, and the goal becomes responding (reacting) to crime.

I understand the current coalition government has a lot of clean up to do from the last two terms of Labour but some context around what work specifically the Government and police are doing would have been good Mark.

With the Prison population problems EM using GPS will be increasing.
New data on the Acquisitive Crime GPS tagging pilot shows it has led to the charging of dozens of offenders with new crimes since its launch in April 2021. In thousands of other cases, it has also saved the police valuable time by ruling out offenders' involvement in crimes by revealing their whereabouts. The pilot is currently operational in 19 police forces, with intentions to expand it to all police forces in England and Wales if it is successful.

This BBC documentary shows how few crimes are solved by the police in UK. The burglary detection rate is particularly dreadful (around 5%) and the impact on two female victims is clearly shown. Ten years ago, three times more burglars were caught and prosecuted. AND in the same period, 40% of households have invested in video recording devices - Ring Door Bells or home CCTV (this is shown as well), so the detection rate should have gone up - not down! My team can an establish an end-to-end image system ensuring that more images are gathered, more are identified and more result in offenders being sent to jail. Please let us help your police force - wherever it is in the world. AND the system utilises officers on restricted duties or volunteers, where possible - further reducing costs. info@nevilleforensicrecognition.com - for more information. https://lnkd.in/eeK3zHkD
