❓How can patients dependent on parenteral nutrition avoid catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI)? ✅ The German Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism [Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährungsmedizin e.V. (DGEM)] is convinced that taurolidine is the solution. In an update published earlier this year, the expert panel recommends using 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 . Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) are mostly comprised of Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s Disease (CD). Together they afflict 2 million people in the United States. Each condition is debilitating and often leads to frequent hospitalizations and lost workdays. What are therapy options? Botanical supplements such as: - Probiotics - Berberine - Omega 3 fatty acids Can all contribute in stabilizing the breakdown of the intestinal lining. When this is combined with eliminating foods that cultivate harmful bacteria, such as bread, pasta and sugar, results often can be positive. A novel solution, that is available to us today, is actually supplementing our bodies with: 💙 A balanced blend of REDOX molecules When taken internally or topically, they restore the REDOX balance and break the inflammation/ oxidation cycle. I have personally witnessed this assist patients in healing many cases of IBD, especially when traditional and natural steps were not yet effective. REDOX molecules can also be applied topically to the abdomen. Because of the rich supply of lymph tissues in the abdominal region of our body (80% of lymph nodes are located adjacent to the 26 feet of small intestine) the results are often physically tangible in minutes. Information session tonight on our health and the role redox plays as a whole! Register now 👇🏼👇🏾👇🏿 https://lnkd.in/gDYguUTR

Interesting news in the world of liver research! Increased dietary niacin intake may lower the risk of all-cause and cerebrovascular disease-related mortality in adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), according to a large-scale cohort study. Higher dietary niacin intake was associated with a 30% lower risk of all-cause mortality and approximately a 50% lower risk of cerebrovascular disease-related mortality among NAFLD patients. This study highlights the potential benefits of niacin in mitigating mortality risks. Read more about it below! #patientcare #livercare #healthcare https://lnkd.in/g8x7RV4U

Celiac Disease – What You Need to Know 1. What is Celiac Disease? - Celiac disease is a lifelong autoimmune disorder triggered by consuming gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. 2. Symptoms - Digestive issues like diarrhea, bloating, and stomach pain. - Other symptoms include anemia, fatigue, weight loss, and osteoporosis. 3. Diagnosis - Blood tests to detect specific antibodies, followed by an intestinal biopsy if needed. 4. Treatment - The only effective treatment is a strict gluten-free diet, eliminating wheat, rye, barley, and their derivatives. 5. Gluten-Free Diet - Avoid foods like bread, pasta, and cereals unless labeled gluten-free. Rice, corn, and gluten-free oats are safe. 6. Importance of Management - Regular follow-up and strict adherence to the diet are essential to prevent complications such as malnutrition or intestinal damage. #Guthealth #Glutenfreediet #celiacdisease #healthandwellness #healthforall #healthliteracy Celiac Disease Foundation World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) UEG - United European Gastroenterology World Health Organization

*Use of Probiotics in treatment of Respiratory problem:* A gut friendly bacteria, available as a dietary supplement and added to various foods like dairy products, has proven effective as a “prophylactic” therapy for managing both pulmonary and extrapulmonary acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in various lung diseases, including Covid-19, infectious diseases and sepsis. The prophylactic administration of the bacteria — _lactobacillus rhamnosus (LR)_ — increased the survival rates of ARDS/sepsis animals by up to 50% thereby reducing the fluid build-up in their lungs. LR works its magic beyond the digestive system by producing several small molecules called short-chain fatty acids, like butyrate. It enters circulation and reaches the lungs, acting upon various receptors responsible for regulating the immune responses. This results in minimising tissue damage and minimised cytokine storm-like situations within the lungs.(Courtesy International J Clinical Immunology) #Probiotics #acuterespiratorydistresssyndromes #respiratoryproblems #gutfriendlybacteria #dietarysupplement #prophylactictherapy #lungdiseases #sepsis

Classified as an autoimmune disease, #celiac disease is a disorder where the ingestion of #gluten leads to an #inflammatory response that damages the mucosa of the intestines, resulting in maldigestion and malabsorption of food nutrients. ✅️ Gluten is a protein commonly found in wheat, rye, and barley. ✅️ In adults, symptoms are often mistaken for irritable bowel syndrome and may include: ✔️Diarrhia or loose stool ✔️Constipation ✔️Flatulence ✔️Rumbling or gurgling abdomen ✔️Abdominal pain ✔️Steatorrhea (fatty or greasy stool) 📍Celiac disease has a strong hereditary component. The prevalence of the condition in first-degree relatives is approximately 10%. 📍Slightly more females than males have celiac disease. ✅️ Complications of #celiacdisease may include: ✔️Lack of energy ✔️Skin problems ✔️Mood swings ✔️Depression ✔️Anemia ✔️Muscle weakness ✔️Fatigue ✔️Osteopenia ✔️Numbness ✔️Loss of balance ✔️General malnutrition ✔️Tendency to bleed easily ✔️Weight loss ✔️Development of lactose intolerance ✔️Hormonal disorders in women ✅️ Currently, the only treatment for celiac disease is lifelong adherence to a completely #glutenfree diet. For people who don’t improve on a gluten-free diet, corticosteroid medication can be helpful. However, long-term corticosteroid use is unadvisable unless absolutely necessary. ⚠️ It is extremely important to know the ‘hidden’ sources of gluten and to always read the ingredient label on packaged foods. Many food products contain malt extract or are manufactured on gluten-contaminated equipment. ⚠️ Additional products (have gluten) that people might ingest without question include some medications, toothpastes, lip moisturizers or color, and vitamin supplements. ✅️ If you have symptoms of celiac disease, see your doctor. ✅️ If you have celiac disease, be sure to have a consultation with a licensed #dietician. They can help you find substitutes for gluten-containing foods and can help make sure that you are getting all of the nutrients you need. ✅️ Following a gluten-free diet is challenging with celiac disease, but protecting your health makes it worth the effort.

This is something to consider--carrageenan in our foods. Already, I avoid as much as possible that are fillers or cheap ultra processed substitutes. A red flag is often soy anything--sometimes it's hard to avoid though as it is in almost every packaged food in some form or another. At least my grocer #HEB sells organic soy-free eggs. What ingredient do you avoid best you can?
Carrageenan is a commonly used food additive with some potentially unpleasant impacts! While carrageen can thicken and stabilize food, it also can activate the innate immune pathway and change the gut microbiota composition.
