Providing overview of design principles implemented in pediatric behavioral health spaces that provide care for patients with dual diagnoses of both medical and psychiatric needs. Explaining how integration of technologies can improve the pediatric behavioral health patient experience.

Very compelling presentation by Professor Simon Denny, an Adolescent and Young Adult clinician from Mater Health, about an appropriate youth / young adult model of care, at the 2024 Annual Forum of the Qld Child and Youth Clinical Network. So interesting to hear more about: - the growing prevalence and complexity and acuity of conditions, behaviours and disorders, and the consequent burden of disease - the experience of many young people of fragmented, discontinuous care or when their agency, voice and lived experience is not heard, and - the work of the Qld Child and Youth Clinical Network, Mater Health and others to develop and implement contemporary young adult models of care that are relational, holistic, comprehensive and integrated. Again an important focus on building skills and resilience. Great quote along lines of “skills not (just) pills”.

This workshop will present an understanding of how family systems develop out of the Life Scripts of the individual partners who begin the family and how they can be worked with to assist the members in changing the family system so they achieve a happy family life. Understanding and recognizing the legitimacy of consensual non-monogamy is crucial for therapists. Why? As societal norms evolve, therapists are increasingly likely to encounter clients in non-monogamous relationships. Therapists educated in the nuances of CNM can help reduce stigma and bias in therapy settings, providing a safe space for clients to discuss their relationships without judgment. CNM relationships may face unique challenges and therapists equipped with knowledge about these dynamics can better assist their clients in addressing these issues constructively. By acknowledging and understanding CNM, therapists can support the relationship health of their clients by addressing their specific needs and fostering communication and consent practices that are crucial in CNM dynamics.
