Did you know that someone who is food insecure misses, on average, 177 meals a year? This equates to 8 meals a week. By donating $58, you can provide food to a child that is food insecure for 2 weeks. Heart on Main Street is raising money to help retailers impacted by recent storms throughout the US. In the last two weeks, deadly tornados have affected entire communities and destroyed locally-owned businesses in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Texas. This year alone, already hundreds of locally-owned independent retail stores have become victims of natural disasters. These unexpected disasters have affected retailers in every part of the country. While businesses are insured, there is often a gap between the cost of recovery and what they are paid out. This leaves retailers on the hook for thousands of dollars if they want to re-open their store and remain a part of the community. Independent retailers are huge drivers of the local economy and helping these retailers recover brings hope back to these affected communities. They bring a sense of normalcy to areas that have lost so much. We would love to help as many retailers and communities as possible, so, if you are able, please consider making a donation to Heart on Main Street, and help these communities recover. https://lnkd.in/gtdW9Tef
Did you know? Even a small donation can make a big difference in the lives of those impacted by the tornadoes. Here at Heart on Main Street, we believe in the power of community. Join us in supporting the recovery efforts in Oklahoma and Nebraska. Together, we can show the strength and compassion of our retail community. Donate now: https://lnkd.in/g7-tixGe

So many business owners could get behind a project such as this. These developments going up everywhere in Truro, but I have not heard anything about affordable housing in the mix. There are so many of our families, friends and neighbours are homeless with not enough beds. Folks don't need a great big space...only big enough for a bed, small kitchen area and a bathroom with a sink, toilet and upright shower. This would get people out of the cold and off the street for the winter. Have the Town donate some land for a project, donations of materials to build from local businesses, volunteers to come together with their skills. tools and the willingness to help...you never know, you might be helping a friend who is hitting rock bottom. Think about this...it can be done if everyone brings whatever the can to help. Don't have another cold winter watching folks sleeping on benches or behind buildings...the people of Truro are better than that.
