Ever seen an employee who is really committed to their organisation but are completely spent physically and emotionally? High employee engagement doesn’t equate to a psychologically healthy workplace. By all means, keep measuring engagement. But, don’t consider this a proxy for psychosocial risk as it’s unlikely to provide the insights required to understand likelihood and consequence of harm. There’s often a reluctance to add another consultation piece in addition to the employee engagement survey due to ‘survey fatigue’. But there are ways around this. For a consultation process you can follow that 1) quantifies risk of harm, 2) generates qualitative insights into people’s experience of work, 3) generates ideas for addressing identified hazards sourced directly from workers, 4) meets requirements for psychosocial risk regulations and Respect@Work, and 5) avoids survey fatigue, don’t miss this Thursday’s webinar. #psychosocialriskmanagement #psychhealthandsafety #iso45003 #workplacementalhealth #mentalhealth

Jason… I enjoy your shares. I personally do not buy there is such a thing as survey fatigue… I think it is survey regret. “ I shared my point of view and nothing changed”. Perhaps semantics. I challenge employers let’s not measure engagement or psychosocial factors if we are not going to listen and take action. Working in a busy and on a busy is not the same construct. So to make an impact employers must understand how they can influence the environment period.

To repeat “High employee engagement doesn’t equate to a psychologically healthy workplace.”

Employers that figure this out are going to win the competition for top talent. There is a generation of workers (in a lot of different generations) that have figured out that over doing it for employers that don't understand the balance is not a decision that they will continue to make. #Psychologicalhealthandsafety, when done well, is good for everyone.
