Currently, 25(b) products are not included (too much work for me). But I will consider adding them when the platform starts to gain traction. 🌿 Oper-8 was presented at the annual Regional Crop productrion and Crop protection conference. This popular conference was held in Sweden, between the 11th and 12th of January. 🌿 A wide selection of experts, both researchers and advisors from different disciplines, contributed with knowledge that can be used to improve education and the advise distributed in West Sweden. The conference attracted about 90 attendants, both farmers, advisors, researchers and company representatives. "It was a very good opportunity to present and discuss our results achieved so far in Oper-8 regarding best practices for alternative weed control with farmers and advisors," says Thomas Börjesson from AGROVÄST LIVSMEDEL AB and partner in the Oper8 project. Yesterday, our Secretary General Garlich v. Essen represented the plant breeding and seed production sector at a European Parliament hearing on the European Commission's new Regulation on Plant Reproductive Material (#PRM). During the hearing, he highlighted several key aspects: 🌱 The #seedsector considers the #PRM proposal overall positive, logic, stringent, and flexible; 🌱 The proposal accommodates the diverse interests of providers and users of classical #PRM, specific materials, markets or users that require derogations; 🌱 The introduction of a new element for bringing plant reproductive material under EU Regulation for official controls, ensuring standardized quality guarantees; 🌱 The acknowledgment of sector's diversity, allowing adaptations for specific materials, market segments, and users. 🌱 The legislative proposal covers all #PRM, and highlights the importance of appropriate information, quality guarantees, and protection from pests and diseases for farmers, regardless of their production focus or seed preferences. ❗ Concerns were raised about the "Value for Sustainable Cultivation and Use (VSCU)" testing requirement, especially for species lacking testing systems, such as in the vegetable sector. The collaboration between authorities and the sector was stressed for an efficient implementation, and suggestions for accrediting companies under official supervision. 🎯 The goal remains clear: to assure the best possible seed for the sustainable cultivation practices of European #farmers and #growers. #GrowingTheFuture #PlantReproductiveMaterial #PRM #SeedProduction
