Can we do renewable energy better ? 🌍💡 Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to attend an inspiring workshop hosted by Will Harris' non-profit organization, the Center for Agricultural Resilience, in conjunction with Silicon Ranch. Silicon Ranch's Renewable Energy initiative goes beyond renewable energy.   It's about asking important questions: How can we use the land hosting solar projects for an even bigger purpose? How can we work with surrounding communities and farmers to make the land better than we found it? During the workshop, we delved into the potential of Agrivoltaics and explored ways to make renewable energy more sustainable.  It was inspiring to see how, by working together, we can make a positive impact on our environment and communities by identifying opportunities and looking to  transition from Renewable Energy to Regenerative Energy. The integration between these elements will continue, thanks to technological advancements that open new horizons for development and innovation in the financial and insurance sectors. Renewable energy faces challenges from the petrodollar system, especially with increasing environmental pressures and calls to transition to more sustainable energy sources. Renewable energy emerges as a potential alternative to petrodollars in the global economic systems. We recently facilitated a collaborative workshop with members of the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ), the largest industrial precinct in Tasmania, responsible for 60% of Tasmania’s manufacturing exports. 💡 Led by Rocío R., we explore the transformative opportunities created by a new energy system. The session focused on how the Bell Bay ecosystem can distribute and harness upcoming renewable energy sources and their by-products. We also shared Australian and international examples of industrial clusters successfully powered by renewable energy. Through interactive sessions, we brainstormed immediate and long-term opportunities for the Bell Bay precinct. 🤝 A key takeaway was the importance of collaboration within the Bell Bay ecosystem, and the immense potential of working collectively rather than as individual, neighbouring entities. As the CEO of the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA), I'm excited to discuss this topic at the upcoming Energy and Farm Diversification Show, where I'll be presenting and joining a panel discussion on 'Harnessing Renewable Energy on Farms.'🚜🌱 Key Points: Negligible Impact: Only 0.2% of farmland needed for solar targets. Positive Opportunities: Onsite solar (rooftop) = reduced energy costs, and utility scale offers income diversification. Challenges: Land use review for multiple uses. Refinement of TAMS design. Strengthening network infrastructure. Agrisolar's Potential: We need a strong policy framework to support this innovative approach.
