Happy International Day of Education!
People often ask me this question: "Why does the British Council need any marketing? Everyone knows the British Council; you sell English courses!”
Since 1934, the British Council’s work has extended beyond teaching and testing English. We create opportunities, build connections, and shape the future of learning for individuals, institutions, and communities.
British Council collaborates with Ministries of Education to enhance learning outcomes. Since 2012, through the 'Connecting Classrooms' programme, we have engaged over 18,000 schools and trained more than 28,000 teachers across 50 countries.
We Connect academics, researchers, and institutions worldwide. We just unveiled the findings of our latest research on the sustainability of Transnational Education (TNE) in MENA.
We Empower young people with resources and partnerships. Our programmes aim to improve employment prospects by providing essential skills for the global job market.
We Support young voices to shape their futures. The 'Active Citizens' programme has inspired over 285,000 individuals in 77 countries to make a positive difference in their communities.
We hold the Education World Forum (EWF) annually in London, the largest conference for education and skills ministers worldwide. In 2024, 122 ministers from 124 countries met to discuss AI, resilience, and climate action.
This is in addition to our work in art, creative economy, and film! British Council has been proudly transforming English Education Worldwide!
