Nutrition Scientist and Probiotics Researcher; VP Health and Scientific Affairs at Danone North America
I had the pleasure of speaking at #shoptalk earlier this month (#Bcorpmonth!). It was a great panel discussion about how companies can use their business as a force for good and track measurable outcomes for an expanded set of stakeholders. At Danone, our mission is to bring health through food to as many people as possible, and we have codified our global impact journey to focus on issues that intersect with our business, but also improve the health of people, planet, and communities. I spoke with Alanna Fishman and Magdalene Barclay about how companies can set, measure and achieve ambitious goals, related to health and nutrition. I am so passionate about how Danone is addressing real gaps in society related to accessible and inclusive nutrition, and shared some inspirational examples of how we are working with like-minded partners in the private and public sector to drive change, at scale. For example, Danone joined the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health in 2023, and announced a $22 million investment (by 2030) to improve access to, and availability of, nutritious foods in the U.S. Our investments will improve food access and affordability, and empower consumers with the knowledge to make healthy choices, and enhance nutrition and food security research. I hope we can continue to learn from each other across the industry and share examples of how our businesses are driving health forward for growth and societal benefit. #sustainablefood #nutrition #prouddanoner

Eric Glazer had an enlightening conversation with Dr. Katherine Saunders, MD, co-founder of Intellihealth, on Bright Spots in Healthcare Podcast. Dr. Saunders sheds light on the complexity of nutritional strategies, emphasizing it's not about low fat or low carb, but sustainability. Her belief is that the most effective diet won't feel like a diet at all, and she works closely with her patients to achieve this, ensuring their eating patterns are nutritious and satisfying. A memorable quote from her team of dieticians sums it up: "Good nutrition is good nutrition." In essence, it's about finding what works for you. Repost this if it helped you understand the importance of a personalized, sustainable diet. #NutritionalStrategy #SustainableDiet #IndividualizedNutrition

"Nutrition: It's More Than a Meal—It's the Foundation of Life, Community, and Sustainability.🌱 The "Beyond the Table" concept for National Nutrition Month highlights that nutrition extends beyond just the food we eat, encompassing its impact on our overall health, communities, and the environment. It encourages us to consider how our dietary choices influence physical and mental well-being, contribute to environmental sustainability, and foster cultural and social connections. By making informed, responsible food choices, we can optimize our health, conserve resources, and strengthen community bonds. This concept is a call to view nutrition as a powerful tool for creating a healthier, more sustainable, and connected world. ☑Checkout our page for more information. ☑Follow us Nerdy Grad ®️, Asian Journal of Nutrition & Food Sciences for more updates. #nationalnutritionmonth2024 #nutritionweek #beyondthetable #nutritiousdiet #sustainable #mindfuleating #healthierlife #nutritioneducation #healtheducator #nutritionawareness #eatforhealth #longevity #eatforyourgoals #nutritiontips

Who has to do what to transform our food system towards better health and environment while maintaining vibrant enterprises and livelihood? “Advice to the food industry: talk to us (society), try to get a handle on what we (the consumer) really want as opposed to what we currently have, and really be a part of the conversation.” Watch our free on-demand webinar on Sustainable Diet & Nutrition with Dr. John Ingram (University of Oxford): https://bit.ly/3vtr8jI
