Over the past 5 months, a dedicated group has convened to discuss how the state (and the broader ecosystem) can better support and connect Oregon's incredible food & beverage community -- a community that touches every region and part of the state. It's been an honor to serve as co-chair of the Growth & Innovation committee with Nikki Guerrero. We have helped to oversee committees focused around Innovation, Trade, Capital and Copacking/Distribution. These are all big issues to tackle, and while we most likely won't be able to address all of them in deep ways, our hope is that this work creates programs that can have immediate impact, but just important lays the foundation upon which to help create the framework to help more Oregon based F&B companies become long term sustainable/profitable companies. Which gives us all cause to utter those immortal words from Ab Fab's Patsy, 'crack open the Bolly, darling'. Followed quickly by 'top up, darling?' 'Just a smidge...' Although, to be fair, Patsy probably wouldn't care that La Maison Bollinger has formalised its ongoing commitment to its land, its people, and its roots. Her only concern would be that they keep making the stuff. She doesn't have anything to worry about there. Now with B Corp certification under its belt, Champagne Bollinger has cemented its intention to stay in business by shifting to a model that values planet and people, as much as profit. Champagne Bollinger is the second Champagne business to get its B Corp certification. The achievement sees it join Piper-Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck & Rare Champagne, all part of EPI Group, as B Corp-certified companies. So what's B Corp? It's essentially a third-party, independent verification of a company's social and environmental performance. It's also a global movement that's working to transform the world's economy by building a community of businesses that are committed to being a force for good. Wine Industry Impact Conference – The Only Way is Up The Wine Industry Impact Conference; ‘The Only Way is Up’ presents an engaging and thought-provoking program that will focus on reevaluating and adapting what winegrape, wine, and supply businesses should be doing to build profitability. In addition to local experts, three keynote international presenters will contribute rare insights to Day One’s program by outlining their experiences and observations in industry rejuvenation. Other topics of note range from; technological updates, to traversing the changing consumer environment, to personal wellbeing during times of change. The Conference’s emphasis on how wine-related businesses can adjust to improve their positions will be of interest to anyone with a stake in the health of the Australian wine industry.
