Thank you, PepsiCo for your incredible support and for rallying your team towards such a meaningful goal. We're grateful for every step taken to help those in need.
We're honoured to be part of this amazing initiative and look forward to seeing the collective impact of your efforts.
One of my favorite PepsiCo programs, Move for Good, is back!
Launched earlier this month, our six-week global challenge inspires our teams to get moving and work together towards a collective goal: the donation of 4 million meals by the PepsiCo Foundation to FoodForward SA. Pictured below are our wonderful associates volunteering to help advance their mission of reducing hunger in South Africa, where 1 in 5 of households are food insecure.
I love that this annual initiative is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, support our health and well-being, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
For my part, I’ve pledged to walk 10,000 steps every day throughout the duration of the challenge. Colleagues, help me reach my goal! Let’s try to move some of our upcoming meetings to walk-and-talks.
I invite each of our associates to join me in setting your own goals (if you haven’t already) and sharing your progress. I look forward to seeing all the creative ways we’re taking steps to make a difference!
While commendable in its intent, the collaborative initiative between Nestlé UK & Ireland and Arla Foods UK to donate breakfast provisions to FareShare UK warrants critical examination from various academic perspectives.
Firstly, the framing of the initiative as a philanthropic endeavor by the companies involved may obscure underlying motivations, such as enhancing brand reputation or garnering positive publicity. This raises questions about the authenticity and long-term sustainability of the partnership beyond its immediate impact.
Furthermore, the focus on providing breakfasts to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals highlights broader systemic issues of food insecurity and poverty in the UK. While such charitable efforts provide short-term relief, they do not address the root causes of food poverty or contribute to structural solutions that address income inequality and access to affordable, nutritious food.
The reliance on corporate donations to address societal challenges like hunger also raises concerns about the role of businesses in social welfare provision. Critics may argue that such initiatives can serve to absolve governments of their responsibility to address systemic issues through policy interventions and public investment in social services.
Moreover, the absence of transparency regarding the specific terms and conditions of the partnership, including the duration and scope of the donation, limits the ability to assess its effectiveness and accountability. Academic scrutiny should extend to evaluating the impact of such initiatives on the communities they purport to serve, including considerations of cultural sensitivity, dignity, and empowerment.
In conclusion, while collaborative efforts between corporations and charitable organizations to address food insecurity are laudable, critical analysis is necessary to interrogate the underlying dynamics, motivations, and implications of such initiatives within broader socio-economic contexts. It is essential to move beyond surface-level narratives of corporate social responsibility to engage in deeper discussions about systemic change and equitable solutions to food poverty.
We’ve joined forces with Arla Foods UK to donate the equivalent of 1.25 million breakfasts to FareShare UK.
We’re providing Shreddies and Arla is providing Cravendale milk to help build breakfasts for organisations supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK. This donation has been made possible by the team at our factory in Staverton who have come together to produce the additional stock which will make a difference to thousands of families across the UK.
Andrew Shaw, Supply Chain Director at Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: "We know just how important the first of meal of the day is, but in the current climate more and more people are starting the day with an empty stomach. That’s why we wanted to work with Arla and FareShare to provide breakfast to those who need it most. I’m really proud of the invaluable work that my colleagues have put in to make this donation a reality."
To date, our long standing partnership with FareShare has seen us provide the equivalent of more than six million meals. Find out more ➡️ http://spr.ly/6043jaLmV
CALLING all community non-profit and service organizations who want to be a part of the food insecurity solution by bringing a fun, interactive, community-building food drive event to your community.
While we’re all still enjoying the dog days of summer, it’s the perfect time to think about ‘Fall Fundraising’.
With higher food prices and increasing shortages affecting us all, Sharecrows.org offers a creative, grassroots solution to restock community food banks by turning scarecrows into Sharecrows.
What’s a Sharecrow? A Sharecrow is a scarecrow display with a bin for collecting non-perishable food items to help restock local food banks. As communities across North America face varying degrees of food bank shortages, this is the perfect event to replenish food bank supplies.
Sharecrows.org has introduced a straightforward Fall Food Drive event designed for non-profit/service organizations to host in their communities. They’ve done all the heavy event planning lifting and made it super easy for your organization to roll out. Sharecrows.org presents a triple-win opportunity for your organization to become a "Hunger Hero" and contribute to alleviating food insecurities.
A win for food banks facing critical shortages.
A win for the community to engage in a fun and interactive scarecrow food drive tour, fostering creativity, community building, and supporting a good cause.
A win for your organization, as the funds raised can benefit local food banks and other community programs.
Residents and storefront owners who register for participation commit to crafting a scarecrow, displaying it from October 20 to 31, placing a bin for non-perishable food items, and having their address on a Sharecrows Tour Map for residents to take tours, with a supply of ‘treats’ for the scarecrows along the way.
As Halloween and Thanksgiving draw near, it's an ideal time for this interactive and innovative Food Drive event. Visit www.Sharecrows.org to learn more about the event and how to become part of the Sharecrows.org community. Be a Hunger Hero in your community; be a part of the solution.

One of the most profound case studies I’ve had to do during business management studies was on corporate social responsibility and the many weeks spent poring over it highlighted for me the critical role companies play in giving back to the society that supports their success. As businesses thrive and profit, they have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities they serve.
It is more than just financial contributions; it's a reflection of a company’s values and commitment to making a positive impact on society. It's about being a responsible corporate citizen, and showing that your business is about more than just profits—it's about people, the community, the society and the planet too.
In today’s business landscape, where consumers and employees lean towards purpose-driven organisations, integrating philanthropy into a brand’s value proposition isn't just a nice-to-have; it really should be a must-have. Whether it's through financial donations, volunteer programs, or sustainable practices, every effort counts toward building a better future.
Who are Australia's largest corporate givers?
The top 50 corporate givers in Australia contributed close to $1.5 billion to the nation’s community in 2023, thanks to large donations from companies like BHP, Coles Group, Rio Tinto and Woolworths Group.
But the data also tells another story: that companies in the private sector, like Atlassian, Canva and Who Gives A Crap, are building philanthropy into their brand’s value proposition.

🌟 Proud to see how initiatives like PORCH Chattanooga are growing and making a difference in our communities! 🌟
PORCH Chattanooga is part of the larger PORCH Communities movement, dedicated to reducing food insecurity through neighbors helping neighbors. Our model is simple: once a month neighbors leave the most needed non-perishable items on their front porches, and our volunteers pick up and deliver them to a local pantry. This incredible program is an example of how we can all play a role in supporting our neighbors and creating a more sustainable future.
PORCH Chattanooga’s success shows the power of community involvement. By donating food, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, we can all contribute to making our towns better places to live.
If you're inspired by PORCH Chattanooga, consider starting or joining a similar initiative in your own community. (https://lnkd.in/ehtgZTQS) Together, we can create a network of support and ensure that no one goes hungry.

Did you know National Food Bank Day is coming up on September 6th? This day reminds us of the incredible impact that food banks—and nonprofits overall—have on the well-being of our communities. Established in 2017 by St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona, one of the largest food banks in the country, it highlights the vital role these organizations play in combating hunger and providing essential services to those in need.
Food banks impact individuals and families by meeting basic needs, providing emergency assistance, promoting nutrition, and reducing food waste. Individuals are empowered through resources, education, and support services that improve their overall well-being.
How can you support your local food bank?
1. Donate: Your contributions, whether monetary or food items, can make a significant difference.
2. Volunteer: Help with activities such as sorting and packing, food distribution, and meal preparation.
3. Advocate: Use your voice to advocate for policies that address food security and support access to nutritious food for all.
Awareness days like National Food Bank Day are excellent reminders of nonprofits' essential work, but it's important to remember that they need our support year-round. We encourage everyone to take action and support your local food banks—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word—every effort counts!
