We are pleased to announce that we are now delivering a new Falls Prevention program in Queensland’s Wide Bay region, providing FREE support to older people in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, who have experienced a fall. The program, which includes a Registered Nurse providing in-home assessments and support planning, aims to: • reduce risks of future falls • restore confidence, independence and quality of life following a fall • improve strength and balance and mobility • maintain and improve social connection. The program also offers a 12-week LifeStyle Café program, which provides social connection, guided exercise and education in support of social and health needs, for those eligible to participate. Our Falls Prevention program is available to people aged 65+ or 50+ for First Nations people in the Hervey Bay or Maryborough areas, who have experienced a fall at home or in the community, and have been referred via: • the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service • the Queensland Ambulance Service • a General Practitioner. The journey into aged care can be emotionally and financially challenging. One of the most difficult decisions is whether to sell the family home to fund aged care costs. This decision often triggers fear and uncertainty, leading many families to go to great lengths to keep their home. Read more of Sonia Dallimore’s insights. This is one example of how legislation can help with reforming the #LTC industry to bring forth better care and conditions in these facilities. It remains to be seen how it would impact staffing, but I look forward to seeing positive changes it may yield for the entire care continuum — providers, residents, and the industry as a whole.
Massachusetts recently passed HB5033, which, if signed by the governor, will ensure a higher quality of care for residents in assisted living communities. Overall, the legislation would strengthen regulations and oversight of the long-term care industry in the state, require facilities to have infection outbreak response plans, and create a program to address staffing issues, according to its supporters. The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme supports regular in-person volunteer visits to give friendship and companionship to older people who: ☎ don’t have regular contact with friends or relatives 💔 are feeling isolated from their culture or heritage. Anyone can refer an older person to be matched with a volunteer visitor, including their aged care service provider, family and friends, or they can refer themselves. To be eligible, an older person must be receiving government-funded residential aged care or a Home Care Package. This includes care recipients approved or on the National Priority System and excludes those with a Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). If you know someone who could benefit from companionship, refer them by visiting health.gov.au/acvvs

More South Park pure uncut, non-stomped, Cream-of-the-crop TRUTH about the failing United States healthcare Cartel and system. The entire episode and process is so relatable, I dont know if its more depressing or hilarious? Its hilariously depressing, thats for sure! Great points by these two on their show, another great point on reddit: "The medical system is so much worse than depicted in this clip. Here are just a few reasons: #1 The boys here have unlimited time and energy. Imagine going to multiple appointments while sick and tired, or trying to get time off work again and again and again. People just give up and suffer quietly, or can't get the time off work. #2 Obesity is at least a fairly easy diagnosis based on an objective measure. Compare that to chronic fatigue or menopausal issues. #3 Doesn't show the boys paying for every appointment. Even 20 or 100 dollars can be a non trivial hurdle or disincentive. #4 Doesn't show delays between appointments caused by inaccessible providers caused by long waits for available appointments or restrictions on what providers can help them... though they did mention 'in network'. #5 Doesn't show transportation issues of even getting to the proper doctor." #SouthPark #healthcare #Ozempic
