Run that by me again, when the world needs a statesman, the best you can do is appoint David Lammy, with an opening statement of descendant of slaves. Putin will have slept well last night. How far back do we go on slaverary. I live in Yorkshire we still use Norse words in our dialect. We was enslaved by the Vikings and Romans but we don’t go on about it. God help us, at the first meeting when you realise how out of your depth you are. But there again you probably won’t.

Congratulations on you appointment David. I'm sure that the list of urgent actions that you have inherited will be long. However, over the coming weeks, please spare a thought for how the FCDO might help stop the spread of 'fake and substandard' medicines across Africa that cause so much unnecessary mortality and morbidity, whilst also undermining the economies of LMIC countries, and funding organised crime and terrorism. Please consider the medicines verification and traceability solutions that are available to mitigate this problem, particularly the recently launched UNICEF operated TRVST system. Either way, good luck in your new and critical role.

You may be bailing him out if he can't control his outbursts and unhelpful invective.
