EU - Stay the course. Accelerate the green transition. Increase the efforts. Help us help you! Last week, I participated in Cleantech for Europe Summit in Brussels, co-hosting a Round table discussion on Access to Affordable, Abundant Clean Energy with MEP Annalisa Corrado and Suzana Carp. Here is a short summary of the discussion: In Europe, we are looking for clean and affordable energy. So why are we paying for (subsidizing) unclean energy that isn't affordable? - We need to level the playing field. - We need to challenge the current electricity market and its mechanisms, because the market is changing. - There are good thoughts out there (for e.g. market design, merit order), but we need to act. Scaling-up in the EU energy market to decarbonize it can be a nightmare. Why? - The EU is not one single market; it's made up of 27 different markets, each with its own regulations, permitting processes and business frameworks. - We need harmonization across member states. - It is time to act! Thank you Jules Besnainou and the entire team at Cleantech for Europe for your important work. For giving us all a chance to make our voices heard to the policy makers in EU, both the European parliament and the European Commission.

Next month, in April, more than 7,000 international stakeholders will meet in Rotterdam for the 26th World Energy Congress in Ahoy in Rotterdam. Political leaders from around the world will come together to enable solutions and realize impact under the theme 'Redesigning Energy for People and Planet'. Councilor for Climate, Building, and Housing Chantal Zeegers: “As the councilor responsible for climate policy, I want to ensure that the energy transition takes place in a fair, transparent, and just manner. Everyone should be able to participate and benefit from the transition to clean energy. In Rotterdam, we do this together with residents, companies, and social organizations. For example, in collaboration with the Citizens' Council, residents think of solutions for the energy transition. I hope that Rotterdam can serve as an inspiration for the 26th edition of the World Energy Congress. The energy transition affects everyone, but it also offers opportunities for all of us.” #WEC2024 #Ondernemen010 #Duurzaam010 #RedesigningEnergy #PortofRotterdam

Once again Nuveen Green Capital is demonstrating leadership in the sustainability financing world. Commercial PACE is unlocking billions each year in sustainability financing in the USA, creating jobs and creating a significant impact on GHG reduction. All without needing one penny in subsidies. Canada should be doing the same but our governments need to act to create suitable legislation. Read the white paper and find out how C-PACE turns businesses into sustainability champions!
Look out for our Head of Sustainability and Policy, Genevieve Rose Sherman, who will be taking the stage at this year’s The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) ‘Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings’ Conference on August 5 in Pacific Grove, #California.
