It was a pleasure to join our client Ms. Winnie Huynh Founder and CEO of The Green Solutions Group at the #WorldHydrogen2024 Forum in Rotterdam earlier this month to support TGS in their discussions and negotiations with key stakeholders including off-takers, equipment suppliers, EPC and O&M service providers amongst others. We have had the privilege of supporting TGS for the pst 2+ years as they continue to develop their #GreenHydrogen project in Vientnam, and are thankful to USAID for enabling our long term support. The size and scale of the summit was a good reminder of the scale of investment going into the sector, and that is only expected growth over the next few years. Despite that, sponsors and developers continue to face several challenges in developing projects today: ⛔️ Lack of long term firm pricing for GH2 or GNH3 offtake, thus needing to bear substantial pricing risk 💵 The resulting challenges in raising longer term true non-recourse project financing, exacerbated by the current high interest rate environment 🏛️ The continuing evolution in policies around green certification (clean energy temporality, additionality and location) ↔️ The need to progress all project work-streams in parallel and juggle several dependencies - both commercial and technical 📈 The fact that we are still early in the technology curve and thus also the cost curve, compressing margins for projects as price sensitivity remains high and government incentives and diss-incentives continue to evolve Strong policy and fiscal support and stakeholders’ willingness to share the risks will remain key to getting projects across the line in this still nascent sector. We remain optimistic that high quality sponsors of well located projects will be able to get to FC and we are excited to continue to grow our work in this space alongside a focused set of sponsors, investors and governments. The totaliser is in - £60 billion! Following today's International Investment Summit there have a been a raft of investments announced across the board. The investments announced today will touch on many sectors and areas, including: - investments in the energy sector – through data centres, carbon capture and storage, off-shore wind, solar farms and other green infrastructure; - investments into transport infrastructure – including improvements to the London Gateway container port, investment into London Stansted Airport and plans to regenerate brownfield sites across rail estate; and - a focus on public investment through the creation of the National Wealth Fund following a merger with UKIB. The message I have taken from today's announcements is that there appears to be significant interest from the private sector to invest in our public infrastructure and energy sector. I am sure we will all be watching this space for further announcements and to see how the budget later this month will support or impact these sectors further. #invest25 #infrastructure #greenenergy

Only 15% of Forum attendees said they were equipped for the energy transition. Over half said they were still developing a plan.... The national transition to renewable energy is underway, but it’s clear we have some way to go. At the 2024 Annual Asia-Pacific CFO and CPO Forum, Rod Sims shared some of the benefits transitioning to green energy can offer to the Australian economy, business and beyond: • Green energy exports can generate around $250–300 billion each year – which is significantly greater than the $120–220 billion from coal and gas exports. • Green energy will see an increase in productivity because more resources will be allocated to sectors where we, as a country, have a strong advantage. • Exporting green energy will strengthen Australia’s supply chains and establish us as leaders. These insights are just a fraction of what you can learn from Australia’s most prominent business leaders and decision-makers at next year’s Forum. Don’t wait until next year – save the date and secure your spot now! https://lnkd.in/gr_DDcM9 #TakeTheLead2024 #Finance #Procurement
