Let's wish a happy one-year Guild anniversary to Collin McElroy, our Southwest Ecological Monitoring Coordinator! "I can't believe it has already been a year! As the Southwest Ecological Monitoring Coordinator, I have primarily been working on monitoring efforts and data management within the Rio Chama Collaborative Forest Restoration Project (CFLRP) in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. This work includes monitoring of forest fuels reduction treatments, monitoring the health of riparian systems, and implementing drone level remote sensing. I look forward to continuing to work with all the fantastic Guild staff and many wonderful project partners!"

This is an outstanding article that automatically gets a place on my syllabus. Bethanee spotlights all of the most important themes in modern public history practice through the lens of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, from the power of story as the main influence on audience perceptions of the past, to the necessity of understanding how narrative design, driven by an informed understanding of history and historiography—even (especially?) in a theme park ride—can be deployed to both represent an authentic past and an aspirational present. Moreover, she centers it, as Disney does, on Restorative History, the driving force behind the best, most relevant and purposeful work in modern public history. As with Pocahontas, more people will gain their understanding of history through a Disney experience than any book or documentary. That’s why we take seriously the concept of history as story, and know that the “public” in public history is really about defined audiences. This article captures that entire process, its deep meaning, and its effective deployment. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Restoring the herd restores the First Nations; rebalances a disjointed and upside-down ecosystem and western biome; and well, face it, it's about time. For reference and for those who are unaware, during intensive and violent western colonization during the pre-and post-Civil War era and exacerbated by the Homestead Act of 1862 bearing the misleading and inaccurate title of "Indian wars" the U.S. government sanctioned slaughter of the entire species - numbers dropped from 30-100 million bison to...325. Three hundred twenty five, on the premise slaughter the bison and the Tribes will die for lack of food.
Proud of this work.

As we kick off another work week, I couldn't be prouder of my daughter, Jade Greear, M.A. who is diving into her role at Shedd Aquarium. Their commitment to caring for aquatic habitats is a powerful reminder of how we can all make a difference in our environments. Let’s embrace this week with the same passion and determination to protect our planet and its wonders! #MondayMotivation #EnvironmentalStewardship"

1 in 1000 chance. Shelly, as I am calling my newest neighbor, the Green Sea Turtle, is a marine miracle—did you know that out of thousands of tiny hatchlings, maybe just one or two make it to their teenage years like her? It’s a wild, dangerous world out there, with everything from sharks to plastic bags threatening their journey. That’s why the superhero efforts of groups like Seaworthy Collective are crucial—they give our ocean friends a fighting chance! I am thrilled to share this video with you—it’s a unique opportunity to witness the incredible wildlife, like Shelly, part of an ancient lineage that faces a challenging future due to dwindling numbers and a tough oceanic environment. That’s why it’s so exciting to see Seaworthy racing to the rescue with BlueTech innovations. Their Spring Startup Showcase isn’t just an event; it’s a beacon of hope, shining a light on brilliant minds who refuse to let our oceans and their inhabitants just drift away. Join me and Florida For Good Miami in diving deep into this wave of change on May 23 at Ampersand Studios. Picture this: a room buzzing with the energy of tech whizzes like the founders of Castus Technologies with Mohamed Ismail, who use AI to chase down rogue plastics. Or Shanee Stopnitzky at the the Upwelling Institute, where her upwellings aren’t just a cool concept but a dynamic solution reviving our suffering coral reefs that Shelly needs to feed. Every ticket and every cheer brings us closer to a healthier ocean. Don’t miss out; it’s where the magic happens for our marine friends and their future. Let’s make waves together! You can still get the early bird pricing with code: 𝗠𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 and find the event info in the comment section.
