No trees capture carbon as quickly or as well as our heathlands and peat bogs. When you plant all over them, you reduce their capacity to take in Carbon. When you clear fell and let them "naturally regenerate", they are of course just filling back up with the pine which you removed. This is not natural regeneration, help us restore our lowland heaths by removing the trees and reinstating the heathland. Head to Allerthorpe Woods to see the best example of the difference between Forestry Commission land and natural low land heath, with Allerthorpe Common SSSI in the middle, a beautiful and natural heathland, surrounded on all sides by unnatural FC plantation. #righttreerightplace #yorkshirewildlifetrust
