FORM CMO Florencia Halperin reinforces the importance of nutritional support for patients taking GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists. Registered Dietitians can play a critical role in helping patients manage any risk of malnutrition and set sustainable dietary goals during AOM therapy. At FORM patients receive comprehensive obesity care by working 1:1 with both an ABOM doctor and a CSOWM Registered Dietitian. Want to learn more about our science-based approach? Chief Medical Officer, Form Health

All of us who are actively treating patients with obesity using the newest, highly effective medications (GLP-1 +/- GIP receptor agonists) are seeing how important it is to give our patients nutrition support and education as their appetites become suppressed and their cravings subside. But we don't have a ton of current data to guide nutritional recommendations during AOM therapy specifically. This recent review highlights that nutritional assessment and counseling of patients on AOMs can help us identify and manage risk factors for malnutrition, develop goals for intake of key nutrients like protein, fiber, vitamins, and fluids. Not that we were looking for any additional reason to love working with our registered dietitian colleagues, but it is great to read an evidence-based review that highlights their crucial role in obesity care even when people use highly effective AOMs. My patients and I are so lucky to have the incredible RDs on our team at FORM │ Virtual obesity medicine clinic.
