On the 24th of July, our EnABLE (disability support) and Gender Equality support networks were pleased to host Sara-Louise Ackrill FRSA at our office for a Neurodiversity Speaker Event. Sara-Louise is founding CEO of Wired Differently, a hub for neurodivergent (ND) people as well as a therapist, coach and advocate. During the talk Sara delved into her lived experience as an ND woman in the business world, sharing insights on navigating personal challenges. Sara also covered the Reasonable Adjustments and the Equality Act (2010), tips for managing / working with ND team members, the importance of psychological safety and intersectionality among many other topics. We thank Sara for coming in to speak to us, delivering what was a highly interesting and informative talk for colleagues. #Neurodiversity #EnABLE #ForstersLLP

Join ANCOR for Humanizing Gender Expansiveness in the Workplace, a FREE community conversation on gender expansiveness in the workplace. Conversations around gender expansiveness have been identified by HR professionals as one of the top diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) dialogues every organization should have in 2024. As human service professionals, few things could be more person-centered than learning how to honor and support gender-diverse, non-binary, transgender, and gender-fluid colleagues. However, many of us are still unfamiliar with society’s evolving and expanding understanding of gender constructs. During this community conversation, our panelists will share where, in their experience, gender expansiveness and disability rights intersect to help us better understand how to humanize the conversation around gender in the workplace. Join ANCOR for this free Community Conversation, in which panelists will speak to gender diversity in the workplace and how to create solidarity by equipping ourselves to better support our gender-expansive colleagues. It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week and this week we have focussed on learning about the intersect between Neurodiversity and Gender Diversity - it's been eye opening! This stat blew us away from a 2018 Australian study found that 22.5% of transgender adolescents had a diagnosis of autism, compared to 2.5% of all Australians, and the researchers estimate up to 25% of gender diverse people may also be Autistic. You can find out more about this emerging data with the link below... https://lnkd.in/dtPWmPHM What are the implications in your organisation? How are you adapting your engagement and support of our Gender Diverse communities knowing that 25% will have an additional minority tax and may need further support and scaffolding? Food for thought? These are all things we have been thinking about this week too as we learn more. #pridepledge #pride #neurodiversityweek #gender #inclusion #diversity

🌈 Helping organizations get gender inclusion right | Empowerment through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging | DEIB and Communications Professional 🌟
Last Friday, we hosted the "How to Get Gender Equity Right in the Workplace" webinar, and it was fantastic! One of the most common questions we received was how to create safer and more welcoming spaces for sexual and gender diversities at work. I've recorded a video on this topic. If you're unsure how to be a great ally and offer real support to your colleagues, watch the video. It provides valuable tips on creating environments where everyone can be their true selves. #GenderEquity #Inclusion #WorkplaceDiversity #Allyship

It is the #InternationalDayoftheGirl - a day to promote girls’ empowerment and highlight the challenges they face. But gender equality (the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #5 or SDG-5) can’t be achieved unless there are clear goals around disability too. Girls with disabilities are often subjected to double discrimination, due to their gender and disability status. Girls with disabilities are also likely to suffer if their parents are not supported by employers to balance their work and caregiving responsibilities. Women with disabilities are: * 2x less likely to be employed * 2x less likely to work as legislators, senior officials or managers Employing people with disabilities and supporting the parents of People of Determination are two of the key areas of focus of Aurora50’s Inclusive Workplaces Summit next month (19-21 November). This National Inclusion Week gave us an opportunity to stop, think and learn... Stop and make time in our busy working days. Think about the adversities others face as our colleagues bravely shared their experiences. Learn how we can do things differently to be supportive allies. Here’s just a few things we got up to: We got a glimpse of what it’s like living with a hidden disability through different simulations. Learnt the importance of names and their origins. Launched our LGBTQIA+ internal podcast. Discussed gender equality and equity through an interactive task. Soaked up a digital gallery with sobering social mobility statistics. So what now? We're continuing the conversation – taking everything we've learnt this week on board to create a truly inclusive workplace. Stay tuned... #InclusionMatters #SmartsAllTogether #DiversityandInclusion
