Happy to host Global Network Initiative, GNI, in another Learning session with the Big Tech and Human Rights collaborative engagement. Yesterday we exchanged with GNI, a multistakeholder organisation that brings together individual experts, academic institutions, civil society organisations, information and communications technology companies, and investors from around the world to protect and advance freedom of expression and privacy rights in the tech sector. We appreciated discussing several important topics, including: 🔹 Best (digital) practice in conflict-affected and high-risk areas 🔹 GNI company membership process and accountability 🔹 GNI and policymaking as the regulatory frameworks develop Thank you Jason Pielemeier, Executive Director of GNI, and Setu Bandh Upadhyay for an interesting presentation and discussion, and thanks to Lauren Compere in our collaboration for facilitating the session! Today I presented at the ERS congres in Wien, Austria, first preliminary results of the #EUSAT-RCS consortium effort; a cross sectional study screening almost 3600 people deprived of liberty in 5 different Paraguayan penal institutes with #LuisGomez as the local coordinator of this study. The overall prevalence in this cross sectional study was sky-high. The accuracy of the new technology tested did not reach the target product profiles of the WHO for a screening device but we are still working on the algorithms to understand why it did not work out well in this setting. More news on other technologies used in this study will follow.
