September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about this often-stigmatized topic and focus in on mental health. As we recognize this month as an organization, our priority is to ensure employees and their families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help. Taking the time to talk to someone can make a difference. If you notice someone who may be at risk, don’t hesitate #BETHE1TO ask if they are ok and let them know you are there for them. Just like we look out for each other’s physical safety, we have to look out for each other’s mental well-being as well. If you or someone you know has thoughts of suicide, immediate help is available. Call, text, or chat 988 to speak to a trained crisis counselor offering support 24/7/365. #SuicidePreventionMonth

For the past year, I have worked for 988 and Crisis Systems Response Training and Technical Assistance Center. It's been an incredible year supporting states and organizations as they build an equitable and accessible crisis system. Tomorrow is the inaugural 988 Day - a day to raise awareness and eliminate stigma. My commitment to this work is personal, and I can speak from experience when saying- you never know when you will need crisis services. 988 provides someone to contact, someone to respond, and a safe place for help. If you know someone who is struggling with mental health issues, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or needs someone to talk to, call or text 988. No Judgement. Just Help. #988Day #mentalhealthawareness

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. A day highlighting the importance of starting the conversation. I had the privilege of speaking with my friend and colleague on the subject for work. Personally, I haven’t shared this much outside therapy and I know the risks of putting this out there. But I can’t effect change if I don’t make some changes for myself.I know some people will avoid this post and I understand why and if you need to scroll past, that’s fine. But it is just as hard to say as it is to hear. This isn’t my complete story and I thank Sarah Skinner for holding a safe space for me, as well as for her bravery and allowing me to hold a safe space for her.Our hope is that it leads the way for others to see the importance of starting the conversation, that discourse on suicide is possible but more importantly, those needing it find their way to seeking help. If you do watch, thank you. Just remember to be kind. If you need help:MIND - 03001021234 (weekdays 9am - 6pmSamaritans - 116 123 (always open)Shout - text 85258 (24hr 7 days a week)If you want to learn more, check out my company and our course. Even better than that, do more! Check-in with those you love.💛💛💛💛
