Brilliant engagement and feedback from NGBs at this webinar with insightful speakers Julie Duffus, Lindita Xhaferi-Salihu, Jana Janotova & Dan Reading CEnv CMP. 🌱 UN Frameworks on climate and nature help sporting orgs come together as a coalition of the willing. 🌱 Big role for sports to play in creating demand for better products and services, influencing suppliers. 🌱 Think about where the conversation on climate change/sport was 10 years ago and then think about where it will be in 10 years time - the impacts on our sector will be even more significant. 🌱 Cannot decouple climate and nature, we all need to step up and do more. 🌱 Openess and transparency from all partners in the sporting system needed to support NGBs in delivering sustainability action. Loving how the UK Sport Accelerator sustainability support programme delivered by Useful Projects & Sporting Giants is nurturing a peer network amongst NGBs, creating spaces for learning, challenge and collective action. #teamoftomorrow #sustainability #sport
What a line up! Our Co-Founder Dan Reading CEnv CMP was privileged to host a fantastic panel for a UK Sport masterclass to explore some of the international frameworks that sport organisations can participate in. These frameworks demonstrate an organisations commitment as well as facilitating collaborations to use their platforms for engagement as well as tackling shared challenges. The masterclass was part of UK Sport's Accelerator programme which involves creating carbon footprints and environmental sustainability action plans for 40 National Governing Bodies, most of whom attended this masterclass. the Accelerator programme is being co-delivered by Sporting Giants and Useful Projects. Thanks to the panel for their presentations and the attendees for their engagement.

Exciting news from the European Commission's SHARE 2.0 initiative on funding for sustainability in sport! We have just (28.01) concluded a valuable meeting with the European Commission' SHARE 2.0 community, exploring the possibilities of the LIFE Programme for sustainable sport projects. 👏 We have also heard great practice examples from Emily Even and Marco Reggio (Please feel free to share more about your projects in the comment!) 🔑 Our Key Takeaways: 🐺 Rare but Valuable: There are only few successful sport projects within the LIFE Programme, which offers room for European sport organisation to exploit the Programme's opportunities. 🎯 Focus on Circular Economy & Quality of Life: The sub-programme emphasising circular economy and quality of life presents significant opportunities for sport events to manage waste as well as sport brands and equipment manufacturers to transit toward circular, toxic-free, and energy-efficient production. 🪟 Upcoming Application Window: New applications will open in April with a deadline in September. Projects are anticipated to commence around September 2026. Eligible sport stakeholders are strongly encouraged to explore these funding opportunities and consider applying: https://lnkd.in/euR_q3bs For further questions you may contact SandSI representative Orsolya Tolnay #sportsustainability #LIFEProgramme #EUFunding #SustainabilityInSport #CircularEconomy #QualityOfLife #SportStakeholders #SandSI

The Cámara de Comercio de Santiago de Compostela organised an innovative event that left a mark on the Ribeira community. This local creative jam not only met expectations, but exceeded them, offering a unique platform for the exchange of ideas and the promotion of creativity. The event featured a series of activities designed to stimulate imagination and encourage collaboration One of the highlights of the jam was the presentation of young people's ideas and projects that aimed to foster innovation in traditional sectors, create synergies between different local industries focusing on the Blue Economy or promote the adoption of emerging technologies The jam also highlighted the importance of the Blue Economy for Ribeira and its surroundings. This concept, which is based on the sustainable use of marine resources, was a central theme in several discussions and presentations. #atlicEU #AtlicCommunity #AAyouth #AAcreative #AtlicInnoBlue #BlueEconomy #AtlicInnoblueProject #AtlicOcean #atlanticarea #Interreg

Sustainability and sporting events can go hand in hand, and the Paris 2024 Olympics proved just that. My colleague Matthew Bell spoke to Sustainability Magazine recently and shared some great insights on how large sporting events can be more sustainable. He discussed some of the obstacles; the strategies that can be implemented; and explained how EY has contributed to sustainability within the sports industry. This kind of innovation is what will define the future not only of sports, but any industry. By embracing renewable energy, minimizing waste, and rethinking how we operate on a large scale, we can all play a part in creating positive change. Have a read of the article below, and I would love to hear your thoughts. #Sustainability #Innovation

As part of our partnership with Tennis Australia, Sustainability Victoria is introducing reusable cups across select bars at Australian Open 2025. These durable cups were developed by Victorian company bettercup.® and are a testament to how local innovation can deliver big environmental wins. Not only will this initiative avoid more than 50,000 single-use cups during the tournament, it will also: ✅ Showcase how reusables can thrive in high-pressure, large-scale events. ✅ Build circular economy infrastructure by promoting reuse and local washing services from Green My Plate. ✅ Inspire new behaviours among event attendees and everyday Victorians. Partnerships like these demonstrate the impact of our investment in forward-thinking businesses and our commitment to embedding circular principles across sectors. By supporting businesses and events to scale sustainability initiatives, we’re showing what’s possible for a circular future! 🔄 Get the full story at: https://lnkd.in/eBHDtApF
