On April 1, 2024 we lost one of our great clinical leaders, Yolanda Scott, a radiant light who touched countless lives with her boundless energy and unwavering positivity. Honoring mothers and their enduring impact! 🌸 On this Mother’s Day, I reflected on the leadership lessons from my remarkable mother, Annette Green Elias. Her wisdom shaped me during my upbringing in Shreveport, Louisiana. Here are some of my favorite critical lessons of leadership from my mother: • Trust God: Despite life’s challenges, Annette faced them with tears but always thanked God for her strength. • Be a Leader, Not a Follower: As the youth director at First Baptist Church of Cedar Grove, she emphasized leading, especially during tough times. Stand Your Ground: Confrontations were common, and she taught courageously defending beliefs. • Tell the Truth: Honesty was non-negotiable; lies catch up eventually. • Do Your Best: Excellence mattered—whether digging ditches or complex tasks. • Dress to Impress: Annette’s fashion sense symbolized dignity and readiness. • Be Resilient: At 79, she faced health challenges but persevered, teaching persistence. These lessons aren’t mere words; they reflect a purposeful life. Let’s honor our mothers every day by living the values they instilled.
