Last week our team in Omaha was the proud sponsor of the "Breaking the Silence" event held at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The keynote speaker was Ali Astin-- daughter of acclaimed actor, Sean Astin and grand-daughter of Academy Award winning actress, Patty Duke. Ali is a third generation mental health advocate and has long been sharing her journey. Thank you to the Community Alliance Center for Mental Health for your support and partnership on helping to fund and create more resources for mental health awareness.

In honor of 🌍 Mental Health Day--we thought it would be appropriate to announce a recent initiative to support Washburn Center For Children. 💠 This week we gifted this amazing organization $1.35 million dollars to support its school-based mental health programs. 💠 The gift was presented Wednesday morning at their Dawn of Hope breakfast event. 💠 Youth mental health remains a top concern for educators and the health care community. In a recent survey by the University of Minnesota, almost 94% of principals agreed that student mental health challenges represent a major barrier to student learning at their schools.  💠 Washburn Center helps address these challenges with nearly 200 community-based clinicians working with more than 4,000 children in homes, schools, hospital and clinic settings-- the funding from Medica will support the expansion of Washburn's school-based services.

🌟 🌟 We are still glowing after last week's successful ACO Summit Medica hosted for the 7th time! 🎤 This has become a great event for our ACO partners to be together, celebrate our wins, and collaborate with other value-based care teams from across Medica's service area--focusing on best practices and improving future delivery of value based care. 🎤 Thank you to our keynote presentation from Rachel Reid, MD, MS Physician Policy Researcher and Primary Care Physician with RAND 🎤 Our CEO Roundtable Discussion featuring Dr. Stephanie Duggan, Chief Clinical Officer SSM Health, Lee Handke CEO of Nebraska Health Network, James Hereford CEO of Fairview Health Services and David Herman CEO of Essentia Health and our Lisa Erickson CEO of Medica for moderating. 🎤 New this year: a legislative panel on government influence on health policy featuring Senator Mary Felzkowski from Wisconsin District 12, Senator Jordan Rasmusson from MN District 9 and Representative Kaohly Her from MN District 64A. 🎤 Our Value-Based Provider Partner Showcase was moderated by our Naira Polonsky, MHA, CPPM featuring Tami Proskovec, MBA, Tanner Holst, MBA, FACHE, Glen Carlson, MD Dept. Chair Meds-Peds Internal Medicine Director Virtual Care, Dan Albright MD Regional Medical Dir. Primary Care, Kasey Malm, PT, DPT and Lindsey Haner. 🎤 Our closing speaker, Aaron Perry, discussed Black men's health advocacy. Congratulations to our award winners: 🎖️ Allina Health received the Member Engagement award for an ⬆️ in members being seen for preventative care. 🎖️ Park Nicollet Health Services received the Stewardship Award for a ⬇️ in risk adjusted per member per month. 🎖️ Nebraska Health Network received the Quality Award for best overall performance in colon and breast cancer screenings. 🎖️ M Health Fairview won the People's Choice Creative Courage award with an idea to improve value-based care. 🎖️ UnityPoint Health in Des Moines received the Value-Based Care Ambassador award for its engagement with providers.

A picture perfect day for a marathon 👟 team Medica had a great time at our usual stop--the 5 mile water stop--handing out water, electrolytes and cheering on all the participants!! Congratulations to everyone who completed all the events of this year's Twin Cities In Motion Marathon!!

It was a privilege for members of our team to be in attendance today alongside our partners at Emma Norton Services--the nonprofit organization providing transformational housing, support, and healing services for women and families recovering from homelessness-- we announced the opening of the Living Room Model, at its new home, Restoring Waters, in St. Paul’s Highland Bridge neighborhood. This dedicated space offers an alternative to the emergency room to residents experiencing a mental health crisis, or in need of mental health support. Each individual will be greeted by a peer-support specialist for a one-on-one session to determine a plan and resources to support their mental health in a holistic way. The Living Room Model was made possible with help from a $200,000 Medica Foundation Strategic Initiative Grant named after former State Supreme Court Justice Esther Tomljanovich. These strategic grants allow the Medica Foundation to make community investments on a larger, more impactful scale to advance health equity.

We need to toot our own 📯 here for a minute--recently we learned our company was certified as a Platinum Well Workplace through the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA). WELCOA (Wellness Council of America) is the industry standard for wellness--so we are pretty excited to have achieved this status for the entire organization. Our people here at Medica is what makes us so special!!

😎 😎 What a beautiful day to walk for mental health! Team Medica had a great time Saturday at the annual NAMI Minnesota Walks at Minnehaha Falls--we are a proud and longtime supporter of NAMI and their chapters not only here in MN but WI and NE too! Our company has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for this great organization to help people seek treatment and resources to better their mental health. Our Andrew Marshall was one of the featured speakers at the event and even had the honor to ✂️ the ribbon to kick off the walk!! #MentalHealthMatters #IamNAMI #MentalHealthAwareness #MedicaInTheCommunity
