Are you aware that on 26th October 2024, a new duty came into effect whereby every employer has a legal duty to proactively prevent sexual harassment? If you fail to meet the new duty, you could face claims with uncapped compensation limits, plus a further uplift of up to 25%! It’s NOT enough just to have a policy (although that is an essential). Employers will need to do much more to demonstrate they have taken reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment. Our friends Essex Chambers of Commerce & Industry are running a webinar Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace on 4th December on zoom (10-11). It's free to members and £25 to non-members. https://lnkd.in/egVKKsT9

Do you know about the Worker Protection Act 2023? From 26th October 2024, employers have #NewDuties to ensure reasonable steps are taken to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. *As this is a positive obligation, it is expected that staff training and updated policies will be required as a minimum to remain compliant. The Change Project is offering ‘Sexual harassment awareness in the workplace’ training for any organisations who want to comply with their new duty. The training is tailored to meet the needs of individual organisations and includes a management/HR consultation in advance of the training.
