Instagram Reels is Dominating! As an avid Instagram user, the article I read this week surprised me. I read an article about how Instagram Reels is starting to grab more eyes than our beloved TikTok. For a while, I was boycotting TikTok as an attempt to bring my screen time down to be more productive. This was ineffective because I just spent all of my time on Reels. I ended up getting TikTok and thinking that I could observe some self-controlled scrolls but alas, I fell victim to more mindless scrolling. But, like many of my peers, we are moving to Reels for a better user experience. Here are some reasons why Reels is outperforming the competition: 1️⃣ Longer video times! We want to watch longer videos. I expect to see YouTube regaining its throne. 2️⃣ More ads on TikTok. Everyone has noticed the influx of annoying ads on the app. 3️⃣ More sponsored and user-generated content (UGCs) on TikTok. The ads are getting sneakier. I keep thinking I’m about to watch a video of an interesting outfit only to be pushed to buy things from TikTok Shop. 4️⃣ It’s already there.
