Really pleased & proud to have published the VOLCANO trial in Langenbeck's Archives of Surgery, showing that open console robotic surgery reduces surgeon ergonomic risk during major colorectal resection. This is the first randomised controlled trial of open console robotic ergonomics (using CMR Surgical's #Versius system) and the first RCT from our research group at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Hopefully first of many more to come... Read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/e3HVe22d Headline findings: 🚶♀️Lower ergonomic risk (physical strain) 🤯 Lower cognitive strain 🗣 No impact on team communication 👩⚕️ No impact on patient outcomes or op times

The Department of Surgery at Jefferson Health Abington identified an opportunity to revise its time-out policy when there is a change in surgical modality, such as minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic or robotic) to open surgery. When there is a pivot from one procedure to another, a mandatory second time-out will occur. This is an innovative solution to a low-volume, high-risk situation and puts patient safety first. Tell-A-Doc: Empowering Access to Healthcare Seamless Telemedicine Connections with Top Doctors, Tell-A-Doc🩺, We connect, You consult, They cure
This is a remarkable step forward in surgical technology! Vicarious Surgical’s innovation shows how far we’ve come in making surgeries less invasive and more precise. The fact that such complex procedures can be done through a tiny 1.8 cm incision is mind blowing. It’s exciting to think about the impact this will have on patient care, reducing recovery times and making surgeries less traumatic. I believe advancements like these are the future of healthcare bridging technology and medicine to create safer, more efficient treatments.

Vicarious Surgical Inc. has introduced an innovative robot aimed at transforming minimally invasive surgery. The robot requires only a tiny 1.8-centimeter incision, providing surgeons with unmatched precision and control. Featuring nine degrees of freedom per arm and a 360-degree view of the anatomy from any entry point, it makes complex procedures easier and shortens recovery times. This advancement heralds a future where surgeries are not only more efficient but also less traumatic for patients.
