Week 1 of the summer holiday and I turned my attention from organising documents to organising my daughter's bedroom. I think she's inherited some of my organising skills. 😊 She had made labels for each of her piles of stuff 1️⃣ Want 2️⃣ Don't Want 3️⃣ Don't Want for Now (these are toys she might want to play with in the future and isn't ready to part yet but she doesn't want them easily accessible at the moment). From there the actions to take were easy: 1️⃣ Want - these were tidied away neatly 2️⃣ Don't Want - all went to the charity shop or were listed on Vinted - she even helped with the photo taking and pricing 3️⃣ Don't Want for Now - stored in boxes at the top of her cupboards so we can access them when needed I think she's already learning some key skills that would be useful in the work environment: 💡 reviewing your content regularly 💡 make changes as needed 💡 keep things ordered and easy to access 💡 know the value of your product/service She was so much happier with her tidy bedroom too - more room for the important job of playing 😊 If you need help keeping your admin organised then get in touch and we can have a chat about how I can help you. Maybe my daughter and I should start a bedroom tidying service too 🤔 😂

December is here, and the level of activity this month is crazy! I've got an impending house move that seems determined to keep me on my toes & the worry about new schools is still looming. At the kids current school, we're knee-deep in Christmas fairs, end-of-year gifts and concerns they won’t get to say bye to their friends. Normally my Christmas shopping is almost done by now (this year I’m so behind) and those mischievous elves are back…you’d think 1 year was enough 🤯 This is all without thinking about the business! If you're also navigating the December dash, balancing work admin, festive events, and an ever-growing to-do list, you're not alone. We all need some clarity and strategy. Drop your most daunting admin tasks in the comments, I’ll try my best to give you an easy tip that will bring impact. -------------------- I'm Wendy, I run Admin Fairy Ltd. Clarity. Strategy. Impact. Thursday was SAD. For most however, it’s been a nice week for catching up with old friends and colleagues before Christmas, a lot of people making an effort to get into the office for a seasonal get-together resulting in a lot of chance catch-ups. It was also fun to see lots of normally serious people in quite ridiculous Christmas Jumpers. Christmas Jumper Day, a fund-raising event promoted by the UK charity “Save the Children” has been criticized for encouraging people to buy cheap jumpers made in sweatshops from non-renewable materials. This response has dampened the support from some employers, opting instead to encourage staff to wear Christmas themed jewellery, using tinsel as hairbands, or similar accessories. A small office within my circles went a step further, noting other cultural festivals such as Hannukah and Pancha Ganapati, alongside various solstice celebrations, were just as important to North London communities as Christmas. As a result it was suggested that Seasonal Accessories Day would be more appropriate than Christmas Jumper Day, and the management team agreed without noting the initials. The approach was publicised with staff, and it was apparently greeted with the kind of collective eye-rolling amusement as any other bizarre management initiative. (Just to be clear, this was a different, but related organisation to the one allegedly briefly known as South Hertfordshire Institute of Technology.) Corporations are notorious for creating meaningless jargon, often through the use of TLA’s (Three Letter Acronyms). It’s refreshing to see a piece of tooling with a name that says what it does. CrossRail came close, before renaming to the meaningless Elizabeth Line. My message today is: if you choose a title for a piece of software or other tools, try to make it a fundamentally understandable name. If that’s not feasible, at least make the abbreviation spell something fun. #sundaythoughts #christmasjumperday

What Are Unique Holiday Party Activities to Wow 120 Guests? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gSm-QHbC #HolidayPartyIdeas #PartyPlanning #CompanyEvents Hey everyone! 🎉 I’m diving into planning our company’s Halloween and Christmas parties this year and could really use your creativity! We usually get about 120 folks joining in, and while we’ve established some fun routines, I’m on the hunt for fresh and exciting activities to make this year's events truly unforgettable. Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve done before: Delicious Lunches 🍽️ Employee Charity Donations for raffle tickets Photo Booths for snap-worthy moments 📸 Cookie Decorating (in previous years) 🍪 Costume Contest (only for Halloween) 🎭 In the past, we’ve set up carnival games where people could win raffle tickets, but I’m looking to switch things up and replace that with something new and engaging. Ideally, the activity should span about one hour. Here’s what I’m hoping for: Fun and Engaging - Something that brings out everyone's inner child! 🌟 Low-Effort to Manage - I’d prefer ideas that don’t require a ton of prep. 🙌 Fairly Inexpensive - Let’s keep it budget-friendly! 💰 Could Replace the Ca...

🎅 Why Secret Santa is the Grinch of Office Christmas Time 🎁 Ah, Secret Santa. The festive office tradition where you spend more time overthinking than actually working. Do you go with a candle, a mug, or that overpriced box of chocolate truffles no one actually likes? And let’s not even get started on receiving gifts—because nothing says "we're colleagues, not friends" quite like unwrapping a glittery stress ball. Honourable shout out to Dan Franklin, I'm still wearing that winter buff 🙂 This year, I'm so proud of the team at Priority Recruitment, who decided to skip the awkward smiles and generic presents. Instead of exchanging questionable gifts amongst ourselves, we’re spreading real holiday cheer where it matters most. 🎄 We’ve teamed up with Manchester Mind , our incredible charity partner, to bring gifts to their clients—people in our community who truly deserve a little extra joy this season. From practical items to thoughtful surprises, we’re wrapped up some holiday magic (minus the last-minute panic shopping). Because honestly, the best gift isn’t a novelty pen—it’s making someone else’s Christmas a little brighter. 🧡 Here’s to a season of giving that feels genuinely good. Happy Holidays from all of us at Priority Recruitment! 🎁✨ #SecretSantaDrama #HolidayGiving #PriorityRecruitment #ManchesterMind #ChristmasCheer

Clients Are Cancelling the Christmas Party...?! The demand for a traditional alcohol-heavy Christmas party is tanking. Booze-filled gatherings are often quickly forgotten and can leave more chaos than cherished memories. But there are plenty of fun, engaging, and meaningful alternatives to consider... Alternatives Clients are doing include: New Year Kick-Offs: Start the new year on a high note with an event that blends team bonding and business strategy. With more affordable venues in January, it’s a great way to celebrate and set the tone for the year ahead. Spring or Summer Family Fun Days: Show appreciation to your employees and their families by hosting a relaxed day of outdoor activities. It’s a fantastic way to build deeper connections beyond the workplace, making everyone feel valued. A Day at the Races: For a more refined experience, take the team to the races or organize an alternative sophisticated outing. It’s memorable, fun, and doesn’t need to center around alcohol. Hosting a Kids' Charity Party: Embrace the holiday spirit by giving back. Organize a festive charity event for children in need, combining fun and philanthropy in one heartwarming celebration. This shift towards more thoughtful and inclusive celebrations is gaining momentum for good reason. However, if you want a party, we can help make it unforgettable!

A few alternatives to potlucks this holiday season: A price-capped gift exchange, like a "Holiday Exchange of Joy" with a $20 limit. Host a dessert bar or hot cocoa station, providing a variety of sweet treats and warm drinks. Provide small, personalized gifts for each employee, like a handwritten thank-you note. Host a game or trivia night with prizes to bring everyone together in a fun, casual way. Set up a photo booth with holiday props for team members to have some fun and create memories and post them to your business' social media accounts! Organize a volunteer day or charity drive as a team to give back to the community. Provide a catered snack bar with a mix of savory and sweet items for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. Plan a team outing in the new year, such as bowling, a movie night, or a group dinner to kick off the year on a positive note. Skip the party this year and announce that you’re planning a bigger, better event next year, with a clear plan to make it happen. #ColleagueAppreciation #EmployeeAppreciation #SkipThePotluck #GetShitDoneGirl
