Licensing The Boondocks IP for a date night + cheddar biscuits centric campaign. 2. "Finite Shrimp" promotion that provides portion control as a service while controlling costs. It's a revolutionary idea: what if you paid money, and then got a pre-determined amount of food? 3. Cruise line integration strategy. 4. Minor league hockey centric sports and promotion strategy starting with an Athens Rock Lobsters deal. 5. Investor communication strategy centered on making fun of the country's most evil, strip-the-parts-and-run firms, because good, longtermist investors know and hate these people and would love to laugh at them. What makes you and your unique and special?   In what ways do you differentiate from your competition?   Are you focused on your competition or on your special sauce?   Daily Shake Up No. 852 borrows a lesson in differentiation from the Michigan’s most famous food – coney dogs. Michigan (and Detroit) are famous for coney dogs and, so much so, that the number 1 and number 2 rated coney dog restaurants are in Detroit. In fact, they’re on the same street. Actually, they’re right night door to each other – literally attached. Clearly, they have competition and yet they’re both thriving and have been for many years. How do they do it? I don’t know their respective secrets but I’m sure that there’s something that makes them different. When I visited them both several years ago one told me that the difference was vidalia onions versus regular onions. They also noted lamb skin hot dogs over regular hot dogs. The point is that we all have competition and the key to thriving is not being more like our competition. The key is to be different than our competition, even when it comes to coney dogs.   Don’t worry about your competition.
