"42% of employee turnover is preventable but often ignored" according to Gallup, a global analytics firm with 85 years experience in the business of commercial research and surveying.
This dismal reality highlights a crucial opportunity for improvement. Leaders all too often forget to prioritize creating a supportive and respectful environment where employees feel valued and heard.
By enabling open communication, recognizing contributions, and addressing concerns proactively, it is possible to significantly enhance job satisfaction and employee retention.
When a leader is willing to simply sit by and let an experienced team member walk away from a career they've been building it's time to invest in people, show them the respect they deserve, and in turn, build a stronger, more committed workforce.
When the playoff between mental well being and fulfilment exceeds the tipping point, sometimes the lesser of two evils is more attractive and that's precisely the crux point where the stark difference between a figurehead and a leader shines the brightest.

Employees often make exit decisions without proactive communication. Thirty-six percent of voluntary leavers report that they did not talk to anyone before they made the decision to resign.
Even when employees did talk to someone while deliberating, their managers were frequently left in the dark. Gallup found it was more likely that employees had such discussions with their coworkers than their managers.
If managers want to prevent employee turnover, they cannot wait for employees to express their intentions to leave. The manager is responsible for initiating the right conversations before their employees make the decision to leave their jobs.
