This article is heartening to see. Climate change has profoundly shaped the lives of youth, both through psychological distress and the damage brought to their homes and cultural heritage. At UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s agency, we are rapidly expanding our climate action work. We created the Children’s Climate Risk Index, which provides the first comprehensive view of children’s exposure and vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. It's been said often - you can change the world with music. Now, just by listening to music, you can benefit children around the world! On August 1, 1971, George Harrison and Ravi Shankar organized The Concert for Bangladesh in New York City to raise awareness for the emergency that was taking place in Bangladesh. It was the first major benefit concert to raise funds for humanitarian crises – setting the precedent that music could be used to create positive impact at scale. The Concert for Bangladesh album and featured film have since generated millions of dollars to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work. Now, for the first time ever, the Concert for Bangladesh album is available for streaming on all major digital music providers. All net proceeds from the streams will be donated to UNICEF, thanks to the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF. Listen and change a life -> https://lnkd.in/eF5RptcK
For the first time, "The Concert for Bangladesh", the GRAMMY® Award-winning album from George Harrison, Ravi Shankar & friends, is now available for streaming across all major digital music providers worldwide. The Concert for Bangladesh was the first major music benefit of its kind. Two sold out concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden brought together an extraordinary assemblage of major artists collaborating for a common humanitarian goal – setting the precedent that music could be used to serve a higher cause. #concertforbangladesh George Harrison said at the time: “The musicians were great. I mean they completely put down their own egos to play together and to do something because the whole vibe of that concert was that it was something bigger than the lot of us.” Harrison organized the two groundbreaking concerts to direct global attention to the unfolding humanitarian crisis and raise funds for UNICEF’s work with the refugees. He assembled an all-star line-up of fellow artists including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Leon Russell, Billy Preston, and, of course, Ravi Shankar. All net proceeds will go to the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF, continuing the legacy of supporting children in need around the world. ➡️ Stream the album here: https://lnkd.in/dFik-2qQ Read more: lnk.to/9WTnoiFz

Meta announced the creation of an AI advisory council with only white men on it. It isn’t all that surprising. TechCrunch reporters Dominic-Madori Davis, Amanda Silberling, and Kyle Wiggers found that women and people of color have been speaking out for decades about being ignored and excluded from the AI revolution, despite being qualified and playing a key role in the evolution of the space. Read more from Meta’s new AI council here: https://tcrn.ch/3Vcjd4k #TechCrunch #technews #artificialintelligence #machinelearning

Climate change is expected to push an additional 122 million people, including many children, into extreme poverty by 2030. So it’s essential we #ShapeTheFuture with immediate #ClimateAction. It was thought provoking to hear the angst, frustration but also the hope of UNICEF’s Leading Minds Youth Fellows on climate who shared stories of how their communities, health, and economic prospects are being impacted right now by our inaction. A call for governments to prioritize the future viability of countries vs the next election cycle and for the private sector to build regenerative businesses that create virtuous economic opportunities for future generations. #SustainableLeadership #LeadingMinds2024
🌍Welcome to Leading Minds 2024!🌿 We've kicked off our #LeadingMinds2024 Conference on #ClimateAction.
