It's fascinating how different social platforms evoke varied reactions from us. I have found this intriguing dichotomy when conversing with my women actor friends vs women founder/corporate friends. On one hand, founders/corporate friends often express discomfort with sharing on Instagram, while on the other, actor friends seem to breeze through insta, without needing to touch LinkedIn, for obvious reasons. Reflecting on this, I can't help but wonder why some corporate professionals shy away from platforms like Instagram while finding their stride on LinkedIn. Speaking from personal experience, LinkedIn has been a bit of a puzzle for me too, though I find my groove more naturally on Instagram. Yet, amidst this maze of platforms, what truly matters is our ability to express ourselves authentically and honestly, regardless of where we choose to do so. In an ideal world, perhaps we wouldn't even need social media to maintain connections, well its a dream :) Until then, let's keep dreaming and striving for a space where authenticity reigns supreme, regardless of the platform. #AuthenticExpression #SocialMediaReflections

We are reaching an interesting moment in our journey of promoting diversity, inclusivity, and female empowerment. Despite our commitment to creating content that uplifts and celebrates different kinds of women, we’ve repeatedly (losing count at this point) encountered issues, with our TikTok account being banned for allegedly violating nudity policies. Here, it would be interesting to add that the content flagged is always videos with women’s bodies. However, our content with male bodies showing nipples doesn’t raise any TikTok alarm bells? It’s disheartening to see a disconnect between the appreciation our work receives from esteemed publications like Cosmopolitan, The Guardian, The Washington Post, and others (check https://lnkd.in/dVdXWshd), vs. the reception on platforms like TikTok. In this era of progress, we think it’s important to scrutinize and reshape the standards of our online arenas. Recently, I've noticed a term floating around in my messages: "LinkedIn Influencer." I've got to say the "influencer" cap doesn't quite fit me. Don't get me wrong—I'm grateful for the love and vibes you all send my way—it truly means the world to me. But here's why I see myself more as your friendly neighborhood sharer rather than an influencer. I've stepped back from creating TikTok videos, Instagram posts, and the usual influencer grind. Instead, I'm all in on sharing my thoughts, perspectives, and lived experiences right here, where the conversations dig deeper and the connections feel more real. So, why not an influencer? Being an influencer often comes with the hustle of personal branding and trending challenges. And while that works wonders for many, my journey is a tad different. I'm here to engage, educate, and exchange ideas and do so with you through public speaking, workshops, training, or a simple post. I'm just Liam...the guy passionate about advocating for the transgender community, keen on sparking meaningful conversations, and maybe, just maybe, making your LinkedIn scroll a bit more insightful. Or entertaining. Or both! I don't even stick to one topic. I post about transgender rights, job searching, DEI, motivational topics, my lived experiences, and sometimes even political topics (which really aren't political when they impact the rights of human beings). So, here's to being just us—sharing, learning, and growing together. No labels are necessary. But hey, if you think "influencer" fits, I'm humbled. Just know I'm here as a friend, an advocate, and a fellow LinkedIn wanderer. Let's keep the chats, insights, and connections flowing and growing.

1-2-3 fail: Reputation lessons from Bud Light. Brand rep? As fragile as a Jenga tower. 1 Case in point is Bud Light’s bugger up: They teamed up with a transgender influencer, misunderstanding their audience and leaving the brand boycotted. 2 ways they kept 🦆-ing up: 1. 2 weeks to reply, and that didn’t show their stance. 2. Focusing on ads and discounts while firing workers. Their old-school way of reacting showed their audience they didn’t care. How can you avoid being like Bud Light? Check out the video below for 3 tips. It's easy to ignore and say, "This won't happen to me." It's even easier to say, "I'd never do anything like that." But if that Jenga tower falls, are you ready to rebuild?

I tried to do it but I couldn’t. Change my maiden name to my married name. I really, really like my name. It was who I was for all the years before I got married. It was something that connected me to my family and generations before that. So, I decided to stick with it. I also respect the women who change their name: their name, their choice. The name change is only one example of the complex dance of identity, tradition, and personal agency that many women navigate Apart from feminism or gender equality driving this debate, there are now new reasons to think about this: 👉🏼As women build careers and a professional identity before getting married, if you change your name, all that work done under a maiden name is at risk. It either gets lost or the person must diligently connect the two. 👉🏼As women get married later in life and spend considerable years building personal brands in a digital era, that brand and digital footprint can get erased if they take their husband’s last name. 👉🏼 How do we train AI to understand these nuances and help the before and after names to automatically connect if a woman so wishes? All of the above being said, it is ultimately the woman’s narrative to script. ✅ I’ve seen women change their last names with a lot of happiness ✅ I’ve seen women keep their maiden names ✅ I’ve seen women hyphenate their last names ✅ I’ve seen women make their maiden name their middle name ✅ I saw on the Internet women tattooing their maiden names on their bodies, to remember, honor and keep a connection with it ✅ I also saw a video of a woman who gave her maiden name to her baby as her first name. Traditions are great. As times evolve, we need to make sure those traditions serve us vs us serving the traditions. A recent panel by The Female Quotient inspired this post.
