🤩 A fun morning talking all things #REUSE ahead of tomorrow's #NationalReuseDay down at the fabulous and famous Free Shop in Brighton. 🎥 While Freegle co-founder and ultimatereuse Guru Cat Fletcher was busy chatting to ITV about why we ALL need more reuse in our lives, we snatched some shots of all the cool stuff that's currently on offer at the Free Shop. Talking of the Free Shop - did your know? ↗️ Everything in the shop is 100% FREE. ↗️ The Free Shop deals with around 1 tonne of 'stuff' each week. ↗️ Nothing gets wasted in the Free Shop. ↗️ Hundreds of customers visit to browse the shelves, every day that it is open. ↗️ Volunteers help to run this community initiative. 🎉 Later this week - on Friday 18th October - Freegle will be celebrating #NationalReuseDay. And why exactly, do we need a day, just for #REUSE? 🤔 Well, since you ask, there are zillions of reasons why we think #ReuseRocks but here's our top 3: 1. Reuse is a game changer. Amazing reuse projects are already happening in communities all over the UK. To continue and to grow they need recognition, support and encouragement.   2. Reuse is easy and anyone can do it. Reuse is a simple act and it's accessible to all. Anyone can #ChooseToReuse - whether it's everyday reuse like water bottles or shopping bags; making second hand your first choice when you need something new OR introducing policies which prioritise reuse within your organisation.   3. Reuse has far-reaching benefits. Reuse is such a simple act but the impacts are huge! Keeping things in use for longer helps people, saves money, preserves resources and mitigates climate change. A huge thank you to everyone who nominated us! 😊 Freegle co-founder Cat was recognised for her ongoing work and commitment (15 years and counting!) to the online sharing platform that is Freegle AND in particular, for her more recent and incredible community work at the famous Freegle Free Shop in Brighton. 🎉 HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY to Freegle 💚 🎂 🥂 Earlier this month Freegle celebrated a big milestone - FIFTEEN years of Freegle! 15 years ago, in September 2009, a lovely bunch of grass-roots online volunteers (pioneers!) created Freegle - a U.K. only network of local free reuse groups - and we’re still here, helping the U.K. to reuse more and waste less. Freegle helps anyone to reduce their waste, save money, keep useful 'stuff' in circulation, help others in their neighbourhood and to be kinder to our one and only planet. What’s not to love?! 😍 In the past year our 4+ million Freeglers shared almost 12,000 TONNES of stuff. That’s equivalent to about 4,000 fully laden skips of things that are still being used and are not in a skip nor in the bin or at the tip . Just in the past 12 months #Freegle users have given away and received over £8million worth of useful goods that have not cost a penny! Very handy during a cost-of-living crisis… 🎂 The icing on the cake is that all this free sharing over the last year also avoided around 6,000tonnes of carbon emissions (due to less new consumption and less waste management and all the associated pollution attached to those). The #PowerOfRepair is the theme this year for Sustainable Fashion Week. The 'week' runs officially from 20-29 SEPTEMBER but there are loads of community fringe events running across the country, through a whole month (12 Sept - 12 October). Spreading out across the UK (and beyond!) SFW 2024 is an explosion of community action.
