Marquee Cable-Wall Atrium in Toronto   Designed by RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop and built on columns, the Ontario Court of Justice features high glazed walls and a 20-metre high atrium. FRENER & REIFER was involved in the project, having been commissioned by Antamex Industries to design, fabricate and install the atrium facade.   With a height of almost 20 m, the atrium facade encloses the south-eastern corner of the building podium with transparent glazing, covering a facade area of 836 m². A flat, pre-tensioned double cable system supports the facade and is anchored to the main structure at Levels 1 and 5. The system is divided by three horizontal double T-sections (one inside and one outside) to transfer the horizontal loads into the lateral main structure.   Particular challenges of the project were the glass clamps, which had to be specially developed, and the installation of glass panes with individual weights of up to 1 ton.   We are happy to have been part of this project: our first ever in Canada - and hopefully not the last.   Project: Ontario Court of Justice Toronto Architect: Renzo Piano Building Workshop Location: Toronto General Contractor: EllisDon Design Build Inc. © Rendering: RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop   #frenerreifer #facades #construction #constructionbusiness #innovativeconstruction #constructioninnovation #innovativeconstruction #buildinginnovation #constructioncompany #constructionmanagement
