Effective July 1, Imran Amjad Andrabi, MD transitions into the newly-created role of president and CEO of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc., following Cathy Jacobson's retirement as CEO of the organization. In this role, he will build on her legacy to focus on creating a healthier future for Wisconsin by: • Predicting and preventing health care challenges to contribute to the well-being of our communities • Building integrated care models that ensure access to exceptional quality care that is safe, reliable, equitable and coordinated • Amplifying the academic mission of education, research and patient care • Deploying new solutions, including the power of technology, digital innovation and data analytics, to bring our aspirations to life

I had the privilege of attending the Advancing Dementia Innovation event, hosted by the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and Alzheimer's Society. This gathering highlighted the profound intersection between innovation and care, particularly in dementia, reminding me of the NHS’s vision of not just treating patients, but transforming their lives through creative solutions. Since early 2023, my own work has centred around therapeutic arts across various wards at Charing Cross Hospital. There, I have witnessed how creativity - whether through art, fashion, or design - can act as a bridge between physical recovery and emotional healing. These moments of patient connection, where a simple act of creation can alleviate pain or restore a sense of control, have reaffirmed for me that art is not a luxury in healthcare but a necessity. Attending the event felt like a philosophical alignment between my journey and the NHS’s larger mission. Healthcare innovation isn’t merely about fostering new products or technologies; it’s about reshaping the ethos of care itself. The stories shared at the event were a testament to the belief that true innovation is born from empathy and a deep understanding of human experience, not just from the mechanics of invention. My time working within environments that have not always embraced diverse perspectives, has taught me that resilience often comes from within - the quiet courage to persist in spaces that challenge you. This is why the work I do, particularly with patients recovering from cancer, major surgery, and stroke, resonates so deeply. It reflects the larger truth that healthcare innovation must encompass the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Great article by the Cincinnati Business Courier's Larissa Schwartz reporting on Cincinnati Children's Hospital's recent national rankings. Too much good data to clip it all, but here's the bottom line: "U.S. News & World Report has released its 2024-2025 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, and Cincinnati Children’s is once again among the top in the U.S... Cincinnati Children’s crossed the finish line with three No. 1 specialty rankings, tying with Boston Children’s for most No. 1-ranked specialties... It is the only health system in the Midwest region, which includes 13 states and 24 hospitals, to place in the top 10 in all 10 ranked specialties. Nationally, Texas Children’s Hospital is the only other health system to do so." Time to reflect and review: September 30th marks the end of the fiscal year for federal services. It's also the time to #reflect on your #successes, #challenges and #shortcomings in the past 12 months. #Thankful to my engaged team, my year was full of excitement, #learning and #achievements despite all the budgetary constraints and workforce limitations. Each and every team member contributed with their hard work, dedication and 'all out' efforts to accomplish so many of our targets we had planned at the beginning of the FY2024. #Kudos to my team for accepting the challenge and successfully working to bring 5 Centers of Excellence during FY24- Sleep Medicine, GI Endoscopy, Radiation Oncology Antimicrobial Stewardship and Commission on Cancer (provisional). Highlighting some of our major #achievements together - 1. New programs- EP Cardiology, Expansion of ECHO program, Lung Cancer Screening program 2. Laid foundation to start Pulmonary rehab and expand hospital medicine teams in FY2025 3. Business collaboration with GPM (General practice management), Business Office and labor mapping to optimize clinical operations, timely encounter completion and improve access to outpatient specialty care services to the veterans. 4. Improving #clinical benchmarking with Clinic access wait times and bookability goals 5. Fiscal stewardship- streamline budget for FY25, build a strategy to reduce dependency on moonlighters, reduce overtime expenses 6. Improve Clinic space utilization to meet demand 7. Continue building collaboration with existing academic affiliate and explore other options 8. Navigating and receiving tremendous support from #Nursing leadership Challenges: 1. #Recruitment and retention 2. Inadequate admin support staff 3. #Balancing the expectations between mandatory training demand and impact on clinical services 4. Managing staff #expectations and reducing #burnout Looking forward to another year full of excitement and new ideas to bring the best services to our #veterans. 🇺🇸 At least 386 hospitals are owned by private equity firms, comprising 30% of for-profit hospitals in the U.S. 🏥 That represents 9% of all private hospitals and 30% of all proprietary for-profit hospitals. 🏠 Over a third (34%) of private equity-owned hospitals serve rural populations. 🤠 Texas has the most private equity-owned hospitals (85). 💰 A handful of private equity firms dominate the list of private equity-owned hospitals: Apollo Global Management (LifePoint Health, ScionHealth), Equity Group Investments (Ardent Health Services), One Equity Partners (Ernest Health), GoldenTree Asset Management and Davidson Kempner (Quorum Health), Surgery Partners (Bain Capital), and Webster Equity Partners (Oceans Healthcare). 📍 New Mexico has the highest proportion of private equity-owned hospitals (43%). 📊 Neary a quarter (24.1%) of private equity-owned facilities are psychiatric hospitals.
