We focus on addressing medical waste management and broader environmental issues through interdisciplinary approaches chaired by Prof. Yong Sik Ok. "Nation-states and the global governance institutions they have formed simply aren’t fit for the task of managing things such as viruses, greenhouse gases and #biodiversity, which aren’t bound by political borders, but only by the Earth system ... The nation-state’s ill-suitedness is a major concern since it is the primary political institution today. But, in fact, no single political form is adequate for the multiscalar nature of planetary problems. What we need is plural forms of governance that can operate at all the scales necessary to tackle the problem ... We must redesign the entire architecture of how and where governance decisions are made. Dealing with planetary challenges requires both the possibility of planet-wide action and action at all other appropriate scales throughout the system. The complexity of life on this planet means that there is no one-size-fits-all institution." - good stuff here, we need to think big and beyond the borders of imagination & redundant #history

As #doctoroutdoors, my passion is to advocate and educate about the #healthandwellbeing benefits of #nature👩⚕️🩺🌳 This recent #study highlights that YES #nature not only feels great, but can also influence #telomere length (which can be a predictor of aging)🌱🧬 It also very importantly addresses the #disparities that exist in #nature #accessibility🌻 ✅ Key Points 🌳 Green space has been shown to have a number of health benefits, including longer telomeres, which are markers of cellular health. 🌳 A new study has found that living in neighbourhoods with more green space is associated with longer telomeres. 🌳 The study also found that the positive effect of green space was not enough to offset the negative health effects of other environmental factors, such as air pollution and segregation. 📢 We are pleased to share that four partners of the PLANET4HEALTH project recently attended the High Level conference "Research Perspectives on the Health Impacts of Climate Change" in Brussels, organised by the European Commission. Gaia Bertarelli, stefano campostrini and Paolo Girardi from Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia along with Kristin Aunan from CICERO - Center for International Climate Research and Carla Maia from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Suzana Blesic from Institute for Medical Research were in attendance. 📍 🌍 The high-level conference “Research Perspectives on the Health Impacts of Climate Change'' brought together climate change and health researchers, funders and policymakers to discuss current challenges, priorities and research needs in this area. Additionally, the conference supported the launch of a strategic research and innovation agenda (SRIA) to identify priority topics for the years to come on climate change and health research.
