Discussions on diversity in corporate boardrooms are expanding beyond focusing solely on women. Regulators are considering broader disclosure regulations to include the LGBTQ+ community.
Read the latest op-ed from Sarah Kaplan, ICD.D on the research findings (with support from LGBTQ Corporate Directors Canada) which examined LGBTQ+ representation on TSX-listed boards from 2015 to 2022.
👉 They found only 9 board members openly identifying as LGBTQ+ in 2022, comprising 0.15% of all board members that year.
❓ This stark underrepresentation raises important questions about barriers to disclosure and access to board positions for LGBTQ+ individuals.
🔎 These findings highlight the need for organizations to improve recruitment, retention, and promotion processes to foster greater #LGBTQ+ representation at all levels, including #CorporateBoards.
