Through Chapter One, a number of my Mishcon de Reya LLP colleagues and I are volunteering online for 30 minutes a week to help disadvantaged children improve their reading skills. I wanted to take a moment to share something deeply personal and important to me. Seven months ago, I took a leap of faith and founded a manhood development/AAU basketball called the Dream Team. It was born out of a deep-seated belief that we can make a profound impact on the next generation, especially those who need it the most. Little did I know then that the Dream Team would grow to become something bigger and more impactful than I ever imagined. Our program is free for all players because we firmly believe that every child deserves access to opportunities, regardless of their background. However, as we all know, youth sports come with financial costs. Despite facing financial challenges, we have achieved some remarkable successes. When we began, the average GPA of our players was 2.6. Today, after just seven months, it stands at an impressive 3.12. These are not just numbers; they represent the tangible difference we are making in the lives of these young individuals. I believe in the power of community and collective action. Currently our programs doesn’t have the funds to sustain this program, so we need your help. You can donate and receive popcorn. I don't pretend to be an expert on this, but this is one of the many reasons I love working at Feather Down Farms. As a society, we're witnessing the rise of screen addiction among our children, I know we are as a family.   Recent studies have shown that prolonged exposure to screens can lead to issues like sleep disturbances, obesity, poor academic performance, and even developmental delays. 😔 Here are a few steps I have started to try and implement in our house: 📺 Set Screen Time Limits: Establish clear guidelines for screen time and stick to them. We encourage outdoor activities, reading, and imaginative play as alternatives. 🤳 Lead by Example: My children often mimic my behaviour so I am conscious of my screen time and leave my phone in other rooms of the house to remove the temptation for me to scroll or respond to messages 💻 Create Tech-Free Zones: Designated areas in our home where screens are not allowed, such as our dining table or the kids' bedrooms, to promote quality family time. 🏕️ Enjoy a Feather Down weekend often   #ScreenTime #ChildHealth #DigitalWellBeing #ParentingTips #Education #HealthyHabits
