Gotta love me some Millet! Gluten-free and high in protein, millet can give you energy along with a host of other benefits. This small, light warming seed is great for balancing Kapha while boosting the immune system due to high antioxidants. Millet is fantastic for detoxifying the body and improves both respiratory function and digestion. Millet is a hearty crop and is grown around the world and is able to be grown in areas of droughts and less fertile soil. This sweet and astringent little seed is beneficial for diabetes, due to its magnesium content, it’s known to reduce cholesterol levels and prevent cardiovascular disease. it’s high in fiber helping with weight loss, and because it’s gluten-free patients that suffer from #celiac disease can benefit from it. There are several different varieties of millet. In excess, vata will be provoked. Finger millet (also known as Ragi) is one of my favorites to cook with. Millet is a good source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and protein. When it’s cooked well millet is easy to digest light and very appetizing. Do you cook with #millet? #ayurvedicfood #glutenfree #healthyeating #mokshaayurvedaphx
