  • Great new infographic from FOODiQ Global summarising the benefits of #citrus juices and reinforcing that 100% fruit juices do not contain added sugars, preservatives or artificial colours/sweeteners.

For years, juice has been categorised alongside soft drinks - lumped together as a sugary beverage to be enjoyed sparingly or not at all. In my early professional years, I regularly discouraged the consumption of all fruit juice. I used to liken fruit juice to lemonade (*facepalm). Yet, a recent umbrella study by the team at https://www.foodiq.global/ has shed new light on this perspective, challenging the notion that 100% fruit juice is merely 'liquid sugar'. This comprehensive review of existing research reveals that 100% juice can be a valuable source of essential nutrients. Rich in vitamins and bioactive compounds like polyphenols, juice can benefit our health, from supporting immunity to enhancing brain, gut and heart health. Plus, regular juice consumption is not associated with weight gain or increased waist circumference. See more info in the infographic below. Balance remains key. While nothing trumps eating whole fruit, drinking 100% juice can complement the diet. This new evidence invites us to reconsider our approach to juice, emphasising its potential role in promoting health rather than dismissing it as just another sugary drink. As nutrition science evolves, we must stay informed and adjust our recommendations accordingly. This adaptability is crucial in our field, and we must always be ready to embrace new findings and challenge preexisting beliefs. Cheers to that! 🥤 #inpartnershipwithFOODiQ

  • It's a pity to see this misinformation about 100% fruit juices. They are not 'high in sugar' according to the UK government's own front of pack labelling criteria. Yet, the UK Health and Security Agency doesn't seem to have read this document. It would be great to see more 'joined up' messaging from governments. While we are waiting, please enjoy a glass of refreshing fruit juice in this hot weather!

#Clickbait alert at The Express! Despite their headline, #orangejuice and #applejuice are not 'high in sugar' and that's according to the UK Government's own front of pack criteria. Most juices are now 8-10g total sugars/100g and remember all this is from the natural fruit and is never added. So, if you're feeling thirsty, feel free to have a small glass of 100% juice which at least provides #vitaminC and has no artificial #sweeteners, unlike the other suggestions in the article! https://lnkd.in/egfynjGM
