We are honored to have provided furniture for the Shepura Men’s Center. This remarkable facility is dedicated to transforming lives. Located on the serene grounds of the Old Thomas School, this campus serves over 80 clients. A safe and supportive environment is offered to men seeking a second chance for healing and rebuilding their lives. The Shepura Men’s Center’s mission is to guide men ages 19 and older through a holistic, faith based program. Individualized counseling, case management, spiritual care, education, and life skills training are core offerings. This mission empowers these men to address the root causes of their struggles and realize their God-given potential. As they move through the program and into the Continuum of Care, clients continue to receive support until they are ready to thrive independently. It’s inspiring to see the incredible work being done at Shepura Men’s Center. We are proud to have contributed to making this facility a welcoming and healing place for all who come through its doors! #GroupLivingGoals #DurableDesign #addictionsrecovery #behavioralhealthcare #mindfuldesignsolutions #normativeenvironments #furnitureconcepts #projectplanning #projectspotlight

Really interesting and emotive article in Children & Young People Now from the inspiring Katie Digiorgi, Strategic Lead for Engagement & Attendance at Rochdale Borough Council. Katie provides insights into how Rochdale is tackling school non-attendance with trauma-informed approaches. As a result of this work, supported by the LocalEd 2025 pilot project, Rochdale has seen some pupils' attendance rates rise from 10% to 90% within a number of months. #Rochdale #RaisingRochdale #TraumaInformedCare #Attendance #Nonattendance #Absence #SevereAbsence #Inthenews

The people behind Liminal Time are on to something really important. Offering a non-nonsense, compassionate, humanist approach to end of life is vital. We're happy to host one of their first new workshops at Roundhill Barn, Kelston. We've already hosted three events by the founders: a desperately needed post-Covid community reflection; an urgent and vital introduction to the emotional and practical aspects of end-of-life; and most recently a memorably powerful and timely conversation on #assisteddying. Death is a taboo and it's a topic people can be anxious about broaching. But it's such a relief - not just necessary but immensely liberating to dive in and find yourself confronting the many deep questions involved with some people who really know what they're about. Check them out - https://lnkd.in/eAMMGcxu Yes it costs, but you won't ever spend a more worthwhile £130. Great value. The Kelston Roundhill workshop is 23 Feb: https://lnkd.in/ezQy-bUP

Chapter I I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost… I am hopeless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. Chapter II I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in this same place. But it isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. Chapter III I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it there. I still fall in… it’s a habit… but, my eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. Chapter IV I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. Chapter V I walk down another street. -Portia Nelson #informeddecisions #knowledgeispower #wedogoodwork #roadtojoy #nurselife #lawlife #mentalhealthishealth #selfawareness #street #choices #selfimprovement #legalnurseconsulting #furmom #nursesonlinkedin #knowbetterdobetter #nursepreneur #roadtojoy #wedogoodwork

Gemma Hyde’s article, published in Building Design, dives deep into the pressing need to create spaces and places where children and young people can genuinely thrive. Drawing on insights from the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) and her testimony at a parliamentary select committee, Gemma discusses how the built environment can support - or hinder - the physical, emotional, and social development of young people. Gemma highlights how the absence of children from our streets and public spaces today signals a missed opportunity to make cities truly inclusive. Approaches like the Bernard van Leer Foundation’s Urban95 initiative and the TCPA’s work with Playing Out and Sport England underscore this point - designing cities from a child’s perspective often leads to environments that are better for everyone. One of Gemma’s critical observations is the lack of national policy attention. In the National Planning Policy Framework for England, children are mentioned just once, and youth not at all. This policy void, Gemma argues, results in local planning often neglecting young people’s needs, despite extensive evidence of how their environments impact their health, education, and lifelong wellbeing. Gemma’s article is an important read for those in architecture and planning who are committed to creating sustainable, resilient communities. By advocating for child-centred planning, Gemma provides a fresh perspective on inclusive urban design that could transform how we approach city planning for all ages. https://lnkd.in/eE6TpH8b #architecture #planning #youngpeople #children #play Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA)

When we see a group of people, we rarely consider how they may be together as a collective unit. A lovely, clean home, matching clothing, and a manicured lawn give the impression of success and stability. What lens are you using? What criteria do you base your conclusion on? I can give you over a dozen scenarios; they would all be positive and within the possibilities of Kingdom building. When we see a group of people together, we rarely consider how they function as a unit. A well-kept home, coordinated clothing, and a manicured lawn often convey success and stability. What perspective do you have? What factors do you consider when forming your opinion? I can present numerous scenarios, all of which would be positive and contribute to building a solid community. #run2abetterlife #seriouslyevaluatinglifesfuture #familiesinthemix #parenting #stepparenting #stepchildren #children #blendedfamilies
