🤔 The Food2030 Networks Conference: Do incremental innovations delay progress to more systemic innovations that lead to fundamental change, or can the sum of many small incremental innovations build up to a larger systemic innovation? 💡 For FUSILLI, focusing on the 'transformation of the urban food system', this is an important question. When looking at all the individual activities we carry out in our Living Labs, they seem small. However, representing FUSILLI as a whole, these incremental changes are enough to make a shift in the small scope that make it easier to move the 'larger mountains' in food systems in the EU-wide context. "There is a need for purposeful data sharing rather than sharing for the sake of sharing without knowing who will use it." - was a particularly interesting insights coming from the session "Innovation, Data, Digital Tools, and Sustainability Assessment". By sharing data with purpose, we can make sure that valuable data doesnt become lost in the crowd, and are user-friendly enough to be used in practice. Read further for more insights gained from the conference 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_fsvxG5 A nod of appreciation to FUSILLI partners present at the conference: Julia Pinedo Gil, Diego Fallah, Danielle Wilde, Elisabetta Luzzi, Lucia Hörner, Nina Isabella Moeller, Patricia Hernandez Lelli, and Oya Tabanoğlu! #FOOD2030 #sustainablefood #foodinnovation #foodsystems

I want to give a shout out to the tremendous opportunity food innovation offers communities, farmers, investors, and corporations. Yet, it receives ~40% less late-stage investment compared to other areas of climate innovation, with capital flows having reduced dramatically in the past couple of years. Supporting the World Economic Forum, I modestly contributed to their latest report on 'Mainstreaming Food Innovation: A Roadmap for Stakeholders'. It calls for collective action to source, shape, and scale transformative solutions through a robust partner ecosystem. I am also an enthusiast for high impact innovations in #soilhealth and #ProteinInnovation to be achieved through #foodinnovationhubs. The WEF also just released the 'Food Innovation Hubs Playbook' —an interactive, practical guide for designing and implementing successful food innovation hubs. 👇 Read both publications here: https://lnkd.in/ewGNZFS5. Looking forward to hearing reflections and feedback - and most of all, organizations jumping onto collective action! #FoodInnovation #FutureOfFood #SDIM2024.

Meet the Minds behind Innovation 🌟🌐 As we're just one week away from the Growing Further awards ceremony, we caught up with our #finalists. Read the following Q&A with Amine Raji, Co-Founder & CEO of Spore.Bio, to get insights into their journey: 🔍What was your motivation for participating in Growing Further? “The positive impact #Deeptech companies can have on our everyday life isn't obvious to everyone yet. The Greenman Group’s Growing Further initiative is the perfect opportunity for us to showcase a real scientific application in the Food & Beverage industry, that will radically change the whole supply chain, for the better!” 🏆 What does it mean for your team to be among the finalists? “As an early-stage start-up from #Paris, which is only 1 year old, this is a huge achievement for us, recognising the environmental impact of our project, that the broader public isn't aware of yet. It is also great to be part of an amazing pool of companies all working hard to shape tomorrow's food supply chains.” 🔄What challenges in the food industry can be overcome by using your technology? “The food industry is about to face a new wave of threats in quality control. Climate change or the rise of antibiotic resistance are examples of factors increasing the risk of product contamination and impactful recalls. Manufacturers will need to use new technologies to avoid these catastrophes and all the food waste associated.” ⏳ We're on the countdown, eagerly anticipating the final pitch of all the innovative minds at the awards day! Stay tuned for more updates! #GrowingFurther #finalistspotlight #innovationawards #supplychain #techsolution #foodwaste #foodtech

The European Commission unveils a new publication on the Food 2030 initiative 🌍✨ This extensive read lays out eleven tactical avenues for action. These avenues provide concrete answers on both a local and global level, ranging from digital innovation to alternative proteins, urban transformations, and governance reforms. Crucially, these imaginative routes aren't limited to printed materials. Through Horizon Europe, the EU's ground-breaking framework for research and innovation (2021–2027), they are actively shaping initiatives. This program is leading the way in funding various initiatives aimed at creating more sustainable food systems, such as #FOODPathS. FOOD2030 seeks to address complex challenges with creative and practical solutions by promoting collaboration across diverse fields and taking a systemic, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approach to research and innovation. These pathways were updated via teamwork rather than by one person working alone. Approximately ninety experts, each with their own experiences and backgrounds, collaborated to shape the future path during a participatory workshop on March 10, 2023, in Brussels Ready to discover the future of the European Food System?
