Your daily reminder that transparency is not trust. « In addition to recording the meeting and creating a transcript, the tool also offered a summary, key topics and action items, which were mostly accurate. More notably, a deep dive into the recording offered an overall participant score and individual ratings on sentiment and engagement. Other trackable metrics include charisma, bias and camera and microphone usage, all of which are intended to judge the quality of the meeting. » Can you imagine this data floating around without the necessary context? Like the author says, she rated low in collaboration because her role in the meeting was to listen. Tech is nothing without trust. It’s individual, contextual and subject to change. The leadership intentions behind selecting the tech matter too. Employees have to trust both.

With the shift to hybrid and remote work, #virtualmeetings have become a staple in the workplace. While they offer many advantages, they can also be overwhelming and reduce productivity. That's why Gil Makleff, Co-Founder of Sembly AI, and Michael Weis, Director of Business Development of Speech Processing Solutions, discussed how #AI can help manage meetings. It was so fascinating. The idea of AI-powered assistants generating summaries, notes, and follow-ups quickly while integrating them into existing tools is exciting. Not only can this help reduce meeting fatigue, but it can also eliminate the need for additional applications or change management. However, educating users on etiquette and transparency is essential to maximize the technology's benefits. With AI assistants paving the way for continuous conversation across platforms and easy access to open communication between internal and external parties, the future of meetings looks brighter than ever. What are your thoughts? #remotework #artificialintelligence https://ow.ly/2LIw50PF5II

This morning, I listened to an interesting podcast interview with Zoom CEO Eric Yuan’s about his vision of the future of #work. He laid out that Zoom wants to be much more than a video conferencing platform. It aims to be a major player in AI and workplace productivity. Zoom’s 2.0 journey focuses on AI assistants for meetings, emails, and other tasks. Eric Yuan believes AI can automate busywork and give people more time for creative work and personal lives. However, he laid out that AI assistants are not meant to replace human interaction. In the future, AI avatars may be able to attend meetings on our behalf, but they cannot replicate the nuance of face-to-face interaction. I had to wonder about a few things: When I talk to most people about their work schedules, meetings often ARE the actual work they do. Most employees don't produce X number of widgets per business day. If we all start sending virtual avatars off to check emails, send emails, and attend meetings, then what's left, especially as companies rely more and more on automated content generation. I'm also reading The Anxious Generation, a new book that posits today's young people are living with unprecedented levels of anxiety and depression, due in large part to the rise of social media and having digital-first lives. So, as every company strives to be "AI-first," where does that leave employees? Will they have fewer real connections, and will everyone go through their days with largely inauthentic, asynchronous experiences? Lots of questions about the new nature of work... #aifirst #ai #decoder You can check out the interview here: https://lnkd.in/ezXa5J5F

I recently read about an intriguing development (https://lnkd.in/gczAtruG): Zoom's launch of Zoom Workplace, an AI-powered collaboration tool designed to enhance productivity and teamwork. This innovation, part of a broader suite of AI enhancements, offers a fascinating lens through which to view the interplay between digital technology and sustainability goals. Zoom's initiative to embed AI across its platform, including features for Zoom Phone and Team Chat, illustrates a critical shift towards more efficient work processes. I think this evolution is crucial for the sustainability agenda. For example, AI-driven efficiencies can reduce the need for travel and physical meetings, directly contributing to lower carbon emissions. Additionally, the move towards digital-first interactions fosters a reduction in the environmental impact of business operations. The dialogue around AI and job displacement is complex, yet it's essential to recognize AI's potential to create new roles and elevate human capabilities. By automating routine tasks, AI allows individuals to focus on creative and strategic work, aligning workforce development with sustainability objectives. Zoom's approach, emphasizing an open platform with extensive integrations, mirrors the interconnectedness required for effective sustainability practices. It demonstrates the role of technology in promoting a holistic, systems-oriented approach to work that reflects ecological principles. The regulatory implications of such technologies are significant too. As AI becomes integral to business operations, policies must adapt to ensure these innovations contribute positively to sustainability goals, guided by ESG principles. Zoom's advancements offer more than just workplace enhancements; they represent a critical opportunity to leverage technology in pursuit of a sustainable future. This moment calls for a collaborative effort among businesses, technologists, and policymakers to ensure AI's potential is fully realized in service of the planet and society. Key insights from the development include: 1. The introduction of AI in work processes, as seen with Zoom Workplace, can significantly impact sustainability efforts by reducing the environmental footprint of business operations. 2. AI's role in transforming employment underscores the need to balance innovation with workforce development, focusing on sustainability. 3. The regulatory landscape must evolve to support sustainable innovation, ensuring technologies like AI contribute to broader environmental and social goals. #planetaryhealth #planetaryboundaries #sustainability #ClimateAction #carbonfootprint #NetZero #ClimateEmergency #SDG #ESG #GHG #netzero
