This is one of the unique steps we take in making sure that the product is a great fit for inflight service. Besides their unique skid dimension, these ovens are made for effeciency and safety and contain just 1-3 temperature/duration options. therefore, not all products are suitable for onboard heating! At Snackboxtogo we ensure that all products are extensively tested at the most common temperatures and timings of most carriers, which ensures us to give the perfect advice in combination with the other onboard menu items. Beyond the importance of temperature, heating time, and efficiency, there are a lot of other dimensions to consider at 30,000 feet: altitude, pressure, and humidity levels for example. What tastes perfect at sea level might fall flat in the skies. This is a really fascinating aspect of inflight dining as well, but that for another time! 😉

We have surge pricing for Ubers, Airbnbs, airline tickets, but now…restaurants? It’s an idea many industry experts say could help save the industry from rising labor costs and inflation, but one that quite frankly just feels wrong. Of course, the intention behind it seems inherently good – maximize your kitchen operations and staff; provide discounts in real time; generate traffic during dead periods. But with operators talking about using the system to provide ‘preferential’ treatment to loyal customers and guests who ‘seem’ like they’d be high paying customers, it opens up a huge can of worms that may only further alienate customers. Just imagine how you’d feel…you’re sitting at the with a friend, you both ordered the same thing, but you get a bill to pay 15 - 35% more because the restaurant thought you “looked” the part. Let’s be honest, you’d never go back.
