“[T]he drought may be the impetus for us to move forward and say… We cannot work under the current system on a year to year basis. We have to have some mechanisms in place that are more permanent and I think that this may be what we call a critical juncture. It might be a crisis, but don't let a good crisis go to waste.” Read more from out latest podcast transcript: Water Licencing and Drought In Alberta with Lorraine Nicol: https://shorturl.at/ktX56 #AlbertaDrought #WaterLicencing #WaterManagement #WaterResearch #DroughtManagement

Why has groundwater flooding been forgotten? Katie is joined by our Project Groundwater Lead Jed Ramsay to discuss this in Episode 2 of Groundwater Rising, out today: https://lnkd.in/dRnXA-t6 Jed covers the history of groundwater flooding and explains why it doesn't neatly fit into the categories of flooding we are used to, the challenges that it brings... and why we can no longer afford to let it be forgotten flooding. Plus Hertfordshire resident Andy tells the story of how a river that had been "dead" for decades suddenly re-awakened to threaten the houses of him and his neighbours. #Podcast #ForgottenFlooding #GroundwaterRising #FCRIP
