Today we officially launched an international pattern book design competition allowing architects and architecture students from around the world to design the future face of Sydney and NSW while speeding up the delivery of new homes. Housing remains the single biggest cost of living pressure for people across NSW and this competition will mean the winning designs used by developers will have access to an accelerated approval pathway. The accelerated pathway will allow builders to have homes approved and built faster, providing homes to those who need them sooner. Virtually every new construction project is up against time and weather hurdles, which is exactly where thin brick becomes most efficient. For the Wentworth Douglas Hospital, an accelerated schedule combined with winter in New England meant a product would need to be utilized to overcome these practical challenges. This is precisely how thin brick in precast construction is so effective as architects are able to achieve the look of a beautiful mix materials façade, while providing smart solutions for project engineers and managers. In the face of economic challenges and the complexities of the construction process, the builders of the Empire State Building demonstrated resilience, innovation, and a shared vision.
