The article by Samwel Irungu emphasizes the critical need to enhance diagnostic accessibility in Kenya to improve healthcare outcomes. Despite the continent's significant human capital, with 1.4 billion people and an average age of 20, Africa has yet to fully invest in healthcare and education, which is essential for competing globally. The piece highlights the disparities in diagnostic service access, particularly in rural areas, and the importance of strategic investments in infrastructure and technology to bridge this gap. By focusing on proactive healthcare, including early disease detection, Kenya can reduce health inequities, stimulate economic growth, and align with global sustainability goals. The article calls for public-private collaborations to build a sustainable diagnostic ecosystem, emphasizing that investing in diagnostics is crucial for both health and economic prosperity. The effect of NHI on private healthcare companies in South Africa. Who will it affect, how will it affect them and will it realise its goals?! 😶🌫️ In 2019, I was fortunate enough to do a research paper based on the topic that will now seemingly test my conclusions in reality... This paper was without a doubt one of the most intellectually stimulating experiences of my University career. PS. THIS IS MERELY AN INTERESTING FACT and the first time my University Theory will be "tested/applied" in Practice.🤔 #SouthAfrica #Healthcare #Learning

Have you seen CISEPO's LinkedIn responses lately? We've started to jump in and respond to LinkedIn prompts to share our thoughts on issues related to CISEPO's scope of expertise. Do you agree with us on this? do you have other thoughts?: Healthcare companies and academic institutions are increasingly recognizing the importance of training and education in global health, which is becoming an independent academic and clinical discipline. As global health education evolves, there is a significant push towards establishing equitable partnerships and capacity building in both high-income and low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs). The aim is to move beyond the traditional "North-assists-South" model towards a framework where education and practical experiences are rooted in mutual respect, trust, and shared goals. The focus is on ensuring that global health education addresses health inequities and prepares trainees to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and across different cultures and health systems. Successful programs like Rwanda’s Human Resources for Health (HRH) Program exemplify this approach by enabling knowledge transfer, shared leadership, and the development of sustainable healthcare systems led by the host country's vision and priorities. Healthcare companies benefit substantially by aligning with these educational trends. The can do this by supporting international research opportunities, contributing to capacity building in LMICs, and engaging in partnerships that emphasize local leadership and sustainable solutions to health disparities. These efforts should be guided by the principles of equitable engagement, aiming to prepare the next generation of global health professionals to tackle health inequities wherever they exist, with a firm foundation in understanding and achieving health equity #linkedin #commentary #thoughtleadership #healthtraining #globaldevelopment #globalhealth
